Copyright Change
Hello everyone. As I am down the rabbit hole of trying to self publish. I have run into an additional problem. I had already submitted my book to US Copyright office with my old title. Its currently in the processing status. Does anyone know how I can change this since I have redone the title using the guidelines of this site? Is there a way to change it in process? Thanks.

@Jerry Hutcheson Sounds good! Out of curiosity, what made you decide to change the title, was it feedback from readers or a shift in the direction of the book?

@Jerry Hutcheson That makes total sense. A solid marketing reset can change everything. What direction are you thinking for the new title?
I Finally Solved a Book Promotion Block
I kept pushing my book everywhere with almost no results, until I stopped, refocused, and figured out who I was actually talking to. Once I dialed in the right audience, everything started moving again. If you’re feeling stuck, sometimes it’s not the effort, it’s the aim. Happy to share more if it helps.

@Cynthia Moore Absolutely. I thought I understood my audience too, but once I dug deeper I realized there were layers I’d completely missed. What helped you the most when you did your own deep dive?

@Cynthia Moore Totally get that, and that’s a smart move, Cynthia. Those deep dive audience profiles flip the whole strategy on its head in the best way. What was the biggest surprise you found in yours?
Layout in MS-Word
Am I crazy? I've always used Vellum for layouts, but I want a design that is more complicated than the software can handle. I'm looking at getting someone to do it professionally, but I prefer to keep control of the text so I can make adjustments in the future without having to go back to the designer. So I am playing around with MS-Word. I took a really fast attempt at it and this is what I got. It would need fine-tuning. But before I spend more time on this, I wanted to make sure I'm not going down a path that I might regret. Thoughts? Thanks!

@Stephen Shapiro You’re definitely not crazy. Word can handle complex layouts, it just takes more setup and patience than Vellum. The big advantage is exactly what you want: full control of your text so you can update it anytime. As long as you use styles consistently, Word can produce a very professional result. Your first attempt looks like a good start, and with some refinement you can absolutely pull this off without regretting the switch.
Content Editing Experience
We, my son Troy is the author, I am a contributor, we just completed content editing. We were so nervous going into it. We were elated when it was returned. Great insight, pleasant nurturing feedback, and lots of helpful tips. No chapters needed moving. Writing weakness were identified and suggestions offered. We cannot wait to implement their suggestions. I hope if you are approaching content editing you can replace fear with wonder.

@Darla Mondragon So glad the edit went well! What part of their feedback are you most excited to work on?
