If Gordon Ramsay and Fred Rogers Were Developmental Editors Two imaginary manuscript critiques—and one very real lesson about writing.
All - there is a post on Substack by Donn King - Kingschronicles, and he writes a hypothetical piece where Grodan Ramsay and Fred Rogers are Developmental Editors for a book manuscript. A nicely written piece that shows two approaches by these characters as they take on the role of a developmental editor and how they present their findings to the author of the manuscript. Interesting read with some great messages. Well worth a few minutes of your time. Grab a cup of coffee and spend a few minutes with Gordon and Fred. I wish you all the best. Audio Book Help Needed
I already decided on creating the audio book version of my book to launch along with the paper copy. My ask is for do's and dont's, suggestions and things to avoid in creating such version. Also, should I sell exclusively on Amazon / Audible or not? Thanks for your help.
BURNING IN EDITING HELL!
Having No Guidance when I began writing my book, I dove into Google Docs and ended up with over 800 pages, with hundreds of Pictures throughout the manuscript. (It is now split into 2 books and I am working with the first.) But...as I went along and Learned more, I realized that I had created a Monster, because Now I have Converted it into several other formats in order to FIX The Mistakes! And I have Failed! I tried PDF and that was useless. Made it into a DOCX file and tried to use Autocrit...then a ODT file and Reedsy is just a Mess! Everything "looks" okay on Google Docs, but when it is saved as anything else it is Horrible and I Can't Fix it in Any format! Now what?!
Help Me Test Drive My Process
Hello friends! As my book moves into the design phase, I’m starting to build my email list and gently introduce it to future readers. To do that, I’ve created a lead magnet that includes:• A sample chapter• A behind-the-scenes look at how the book was developed• A feel for my overall writing style I also write regularly on my blog, and this is part of helping people experience the voice before the book officially launches. Here’s my ask:Would you be willing to sign up, read the sample chapter, and share your honest first impressions? Your feedback will help me refine both the content and the reader experience. Here's the link I truly appreciate the support. Thank you so much.
Editing
I am exploring the editing process with a local expert. They are offering to edit for 4cents per word. This seems like a reasonable value with their expertise, but how far down the road does one go with editing? Also, does @Book Launchers Team accept edits from other professionals? Thank you! 🙏🏽
