Let's talk about the elephant in the room-the fear of public speaking 🗣️
Fear of public speaking is surprisingly common, and we all experience it from time to time. In fact, some experts estimate that it affects about 77% of the population 🤯 (I'm not alone, woohoo!). But, if your job involves presenting to an audience, a fear of public speaking can feel like a huge, insurmountable hurdle. The idea of standing up in front of a crowd and delivering a speech, presentation or facilitating a workshop can be daunting and nerve-wracking (I know it is for me!). But why is it that so many people fear public speaking? 1. We fear being judged. When we speak in public, we open ourselves up to the scrutiny of others, and the fear of being judged can be overwhelming. We worry that we'll make mistakes, stumble over our words, or fail to deliver our message effectively. This fear can be paralyzing, and it can prevent us from speaking up and sharing our thoughts and ideas with others. 2. It requires us to step out of our comfort zone. We're often used to speaking with friends and family in casual settings, but speaking in front of a group of strangers can feel like a whole new ballgame. It can be challenging to adjust to the formalities of public speaking, such as maintaining eye contact, projecting our voice, and using body language effectively. So how can we overcome our fear of public speaking? Here are 7 tips (backed by research) to help you conquer your fear of public speaking: 1. Prepare 2. Practice 3. Challenge specific fears and beliefs you have about public speaking 4. Shift your perspective from “performance and evaluation” to “communication and value” 5. Get your body in a state of calm 6. Own your fear of public speaking 7. Hone your public speaking and facilitation skills Read more about these in our blog post. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. How do you deal with and manage your own fear of public speaking?

Hello everyone, this is a very interesting topic. In my case, it was practice that helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. I was embarrassed to talk to anyone, even the gentleman at the store to buy something, but exposing myself to repeated situations of facing my fear helped me overcome it! Thank you @Rebecca Courtney for putting this elephant on the table! 🐘
Best whiteboard to for remote workshops?
Hello facilitators! 👋 For remote facilitation, do you use Miro, Mural, or Figma and why? Do you create templates in all of them? Or do you stick to one? I have realized I am creating different boards across all 3 and think it might be best to consolidate to one. 🤔 Hope this post can also shed light on best practices for everyone when choosing !

In my case I use Mural. I have two reasons that helped me make this decision. The first one is that in my personal experience it took participants longer to learn to navigate in Miro than in Mural, in other words, the adoption curve was better in Mural. And the second reason is that Mural has a very complete free option for consultants (https://mural.co/consultants) you apply and you can have a pro account at no cost. Since I was starting in remote facilitation it was very important to reduce costs and honestly I still don't need to scale and I keep using that account. Good luck! 🍀
📍Where is everyone from?📍
Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

Hi 👋 I'm from Chile 🇨🇱
How to Unlock Special Rewards in Facilitator Club🎁
Hello Facilitators 👋 Thank you so much for all your contributions and active participation so far. We are so appreciative of the value you are all providing within this community. But don’t worry, your contributions will not go unnoticed! A lot of questions have come in about the gamification aspect of this community. What I mean by that is, how you can be rewarded for providing value and actively engaging in this community! In Skool, there is a way you can earn points and level up. The likes, points, and levels system in Skool is a way for you to earn recognition for your contributions and engagement with the group. Here's how it works: 1. Likes: Members can "like" posts, comments, or other contributions made by other members. This serves as a way to show appreciation and support for their efforts. One like = one point. 2. Points: Points are a way to keep track of how much a person has participated in the community. Members can earn points by posting individual posts and commenting on other people’s contributions. 3. Levels: Levels are milestones that a member can reach by earning a certain number of points. These levels serve as recognition for their achievements within the community and come with perks such as access to exclusive AJ&Smart content, course previews, coaching calls and more…). The likes, points, and levels system is a way for us to incentivize and reward active and engaged members, creating a supportive and collaborative environment for everyone here. This Loom video I created will explain everything you need to know about this system and how to unlock rewards! HUGE thank you @Kerri Price, @Will Stammers, @Jeff Panning, @Joao Ribeiro, @David Finnegan, @Hassanein Ismail, @Akshay Chillal, @Nancy Lhoest-Squicciarini, @Sam Pettersson and @Andra Stefanescu (our top 10 members on the Leaderboard) who have provided so much value to this community already. We 💛 you!
