Recently finished the 7 day course and came down with the flu. On day 2 of recovery and was catching up watching the tutorials. managed to do 5 minutes just before bed. I feel grounded again!
Practice and Diet
I realise this is a *massive* topic, given the plethora of diets and types of diets from the traditional to the health conscious, to the ethical, to the new-fangled to the faddy, but is there any general advice on diet and practice in Qi Gong, Tai Ji, and related arts? Perhaps from within the tradition? I try to be an ethical omnivore, generally buy organic, make some effort to be seasonal and shop local, cook a lot from scratch, take selected quality supplements. I guess like a lot of people, my practice in these physical arts is part of a wider effort of later-life self-improvement for physical, psychological, and spiritual health and wellbeing, and a healthy ecological impact, which of course includes what we eat. I know this is a massive subject, but I am curious to know of any general guidelines, especially from within the tradition and/or from the sages.

I too would be curious. Is it similar to temple eating? I have recently been delving into Buddhist mediation at various temples in my area and some of them have lunches as well as cookbooks on vegetarian eating and philosophies. It is interesting that it tasted great and I felt really great afterwards. This is from an avid meat eater. I have been trying to do more fish though.
🌿 7-Day Challenge Accountability Thread
Hey everyone, whether you’re starting fresh because you just arrived or you’re restarting like me to re-establish your practice, this is our spot. The 7-day challenge always feels more grounding when we move together, so this post will stay pinned for our daily check-ins. Let’s show up, keep it simple, and take it one day at a time. ✅ How to Check In Each Day After you finish your practice, follow these three steps: 1. State which day of the challenge you’re on. Example: Day 1, Day 3, Day 7, etc. 2. How you felt before and after. One short sentence for each. 3. Screenshot or photo: A quick picture of your screen, TV, or you practicing. Feel free to leave encouragement for others. A little support goes a long way. ✨ Sample Check-In 1. Day: 1 2. Before: Feeling tight 3. After: Calm and relaxed 4. (Photo attached)

Just did day 4. I am a bit behind as I have been trying to do some of the classes. I'm really loving these. I find it is very relaxing and grounding for me whether I do it in the morning or before bed.

Hello. My name is Dawn and I live in Vancouver Canada. I love martial arts and practiced off and on when I was younger. I wanted to do it in person but all the classes in my area are in the day when I'm working, so I let that dream go several years ago. A friend found Sonny on Youtube, and shared the videos with me a few weeks ago. I fell in love with the ease of them. I love that he takes things slowly while explaining everything. I also enjoy when there is 2 different perspectives as it is sometimes hard see everything happening from one direction. I also enjoy watching the others practice with him as I can see different things there too. I've been doing them either everyday or every 2nd day with my regular gym practice and I already feel a difference in my leg strength. I'm looking forward to deepening my knowledge and skills.
