🌟 Looking for Volunteers!
Dear Facilitator Club community members, Have you ever heard of the NeverDoneBefore Festival? It is a 24-hour annual facilitation festival hosted by Myriam Hadnes and her NeverDoneBefore global community on the 17th of November from midnight CET to midnight CET. For a whole day, facilitators and other facilitation practitioners from all over the world gather online to play and learn together, exploring the fringes of the practice. To make that happen, we are looking for 12 volunteers to support us in hosting and smoothing out the processes. We have two different tasks to cover: 1. Concierges  - The concierges are primarily responsible for welcoming and supporting festival guests. 2. Facilitator Support - The volunteers who support session facilitators are responsible for opening up Zoom sessions for facilitators and supporting their readiness for a timely start of the sessions. Volunteers will join the global team, be invited behind the scenes of the festival organisation and help out for 4 hours during the festival. In addition, we will onboard and train them so that they can be in service of the festival guests and/ or workshop hosts. All volunteers get full access to the festival, 20 hours of participation. You will also receive onboarding and training to get ready for the festival. If you are familiar with Zoom and/or welo, that would be an added value, but we can support you in skilling up as needed. This year, we would also like volunteers to like and share NDB’s social media posts relating to the festival. If you have any questions, you can schedule a call with our Community Facilitator, Anuschka, here. Then, when you are ready to join, you can apply here! We would love to have you on board. Love and Appreciation, Anuschka P.S. If you are not interested in volunteering but would like to learn more about the 2023 NeverDoneBefore Festival, you can check out our website here

I've volunteered myself! Excited to be a part of that!
Let's meet in Singapore? 🇸🇬
Hello there, I'm a facilitator from Brazil and I'm at Singapore until the 3th of November, maybe someone want to grab a cup of coffee? I'm working as an innovation analyst at Sebrae, a brazilian organization that supports micro and small business, and I'm at Singapore with a a delegation of Brazilian startups in a mission of internationalization!

How do you quiet a loud group?
If you're just yelling: "Can I have your attention please?!" you're probably gonna end up losing your voice and damaging the trust with your participants. In my weekly #icemelters email I shared today 4 different methods for making sure participants stop talking and focus on you, that: 1. Don't require you to raise your voice 2. Quiet a room in less than 10 seconds 3. Boost engagement I am curious what have been your go-to methods to quiet down a big group during your workshops?

Good question, I've useen these two: 1. If my time with that group is shorter, I'll just say 'if you hear me, clap your hands once' then after they clap I say it again 'if you hear me, clap your hands twice', and then I've got the attention of the group to start. 2. If my time with that group will be longer, I'll show them that when we need silence I'll raise my two hands, and everyone who see this has to raise your hands too and be quiet. Within a few seconds, everyone is in silence and with their hands in the air. Sometimes, people, all by themself, raise their hands to get silence from others within the group.

@Matt Ganson Real nice way, awesome!
Short workshop to 150 people
I've got this challenge to sketch some projects with 150 people in only two and a half hours to do it. I'm planning to split the group into different forms along the way, but I've never worked with a group like that, so I'd love any suggestion you guys may share! :)

@Kenneth Agerholm AWESOME! Love the idea to avoid the Alpha, I was indeed thinking in giving them name tags with differente symbols/emojis to help me delegate some tasks. But those small games like birthday closest to Xmas is a wonderful way too! And that insight of building that facilitator to the future is really good, thank you so much!

@John Drinkwater Nice! My workshop is a presencial one, but I loved to get to know that 'Gravity forms' plugin!
What is your favorite Warm Up Exercise?
In any meeting or workshop, I always start with some kind of activity to engaje people within each other and with the theme of the event. My favorite is Blind Portrait: a game where, in pairs, people try to draw each others faces, but without looking at the paper! That way, anyone can make a drawing full of character and surprises. In the end, each person have to choose their favorite drawing and introduce themselves with that! What about you?

@Tomoo Okubo WOW Really loved that one, I’ll definitely try it out, thank you so much for sharing! I’ve used something similar in person with people standing up/sitting in their chairs, or stoping/walking around, it’s also fun!
