Time to get started
Hi everyone, I'm Ivonne. I live in Australia and am looking to start a health and fitness channel for women over 40 (or 35). I'm a personal trainer and nutrition coach who's mission is to get women stronger and feeling confident in a body they love, for what it can do and not just how it looks. I've been meaning to start a YT channel for years and finally feel ready. The aim is to have it launched and underway by end of Q1 2026 (March). I'm here to learn and share what I'm learning, as well as have a community of like-minded people with the common goal of starting and growing on YouTube. I look forward to connecting with all of you 🙂

Welcome.
Why Being an Over-40 Content Creator Is Your Secret Weapon
So check this out. Let me tell you something that contradicts everything you'll hear from the "creator economy gurus." Your age isn't a disadvantage. It's your competitive moat. While 25-year-olds are churning out their 47th "5 ways to be productive" video, you've actually managed teams through genuine crises. You've navigated office politics. You've delivered bad news to stakeholders. You've built things that matter. That's not just experience. That's an unfair advantage. The Trust Arbitrage Nobody Talks About Here's what I've learned building The Content Revenue Lab: professionals over 40 trust other professionals over 40. Instantly. When a 28-year-old tells them how to "crush it" on LinkedIn, there's scepticism. When someone who's been in the trenches for 20 years shares what actually works? That's different. Think of it like this: Would you take marriage advice from someone who's been married three months? Or from someone who's navigated 15 years, including the hard parts? Your audience isn't looking for hype. They're looking for credibility. You've got decades of it. The Pattern Recognition Superpower After 20+ years in any field, something magical happens in your brain. You start seeing patterns that everyone else misses. I spent 25 years in marketing. When I look at a content strategy now, I don't just see tactics. I see the underlying structure - what will work, what won't, and why. I can predict the failure points before someone even launches. Your younger competitors are still collecting data points. You're already seeing the patterns. That means you can diagnose problems faster, offer solutions with nuance, and provide insights that actually save people time and money. This is why your content can be shorter, more direct, and more valuable than the 40-minute rambling videos from creators who haven't lived what they're teaching. The "I've Made That Mistake" Authority Young creators have to manufacture credibility. You've earned it through failure.

Brilliant. Thanks for the truth. It is certainly true for me that I struggle to listen to someone the age of my grandchildren and take them seriously *depending* on the subject.
Pivot or slight re brand
Hey everyone — quick question for those of you who’ve done a pivot or rebrand. I started my YouTube channel about 5 weeks ago and realized I had too many niches going at once. After talking with a mentor and looking at the data, I decided to narrow my focus and pivot more toward Veterans content, since it’s less saturated and fits my voice better. I’m keeping my old videos, just doing a light rebrand and moving forward with a clearer direction. For anyone who’s done something similar: - Did you pivot early or later? - How did it affect your growth? - Anything you’d do differently? Appreciate any real-world experience you can share. Thanks. 💪

You have 48 videos. Keep them, rebrand. My only suggestion - maybe make your playlists clearer so folks can pick a topic to hear you speak about
Why YouTube actually?
I’m curious, especially for those of us starting YouTube later in life. What made you start your YouTube channel in the first place? I tried FB and IG and TikTok but none of these speaks to me. I just dont feel it. Additional for my purpose i think search engine maschine where people come asking questions I have answers to is better for my customer journey and monetisation later on. Your / my job is to be consistent and post videos so potential " customers" find you. How about you? Was it the wish to share your experience, help others, build income, create something of your own, or something that’s harder to put into words, journaling? I’ve noticed that the reason we start, often shapes how we show up on YouTube later, including how we think about content and monetisation , sometimes without us even realising it. I’d really love to hear what your original motivation was.

@Greta Svensson Part of it is that I want to create the tool and things needed show up on a white screen as in you need this, pop, this , pop and this pop. One must have what's needed on hand to complete the project . It's just tht most folks don't realize they don't have to go buy stuff and they likely have it already on hand. If I am in a clients home, I can't usually set myself up for a bunch of shots. I'm doing good to get what I get and get the repair done, cleaned up and I'm out. So if I miss a shot or its blurred, I have to figure out the work around. What about you? What are you working on?

@Greta Svensson It is a dance. Today I am off to go level a subfloor before tiling. I have limited space and a working window of 10 minutes after I mix the stuff. Without a camera man it just seems impossible to document and yet, it is a fun and easy thing to do.
Faceless AI Automation Warning
If you have or are planning to do a faceless AI channel, this video is a must watch. Over the last couple of months we had a lot of spam in here promoting automated faceless systems. In the video, Sean talks about how YouTube is cracking down on these types of channels, and literally thousands of channels have been demonetized and some completely removed.

Thanks for sharing. And honestly, as a youtuber watcher, I'm glad they're cracking down on it.
