After 5 months of Ronin… here are my current thoughts
Since the group started I’ve tried a lot of things and lost my way a lot of times… I’ve tried to whack a bunch of moles… And made myself frustrated and unhappy in the process. So, I’ve spent a few weeks figuring out what I want to be when (if) I grow up. I narrowed it down to 3 key questions to help guide myself. And 3 sub-questions under each of them. Here’s how I’m looking at things at the moment… = = = = = = = = = = = = (1) What assets do I WANT to own or control? I want to own and control assets I like to have. (a) Is it EXCLUSIVE? If it’s something generic or trendy that can be easily duplicated by others or found elsewhere, I don’t want to own it. (b) Does it generate ONGOING REVENUE? If it’s one-time money, that’s too close to being a job for me and doesn’t seem like an asset. (c) Can I easily DUPLICATE it? I want to be able to duplicate it in other niches for other dope people. = = = = = = = = = = = = (2) What do I WANT to do? I don’t want to operate by “should” or “have to”. [edited to add this] If they want me to do what they want instead of benefitting from what I do best and that I WANT to do... they want to be my boss. No thanks. (a) Do I LOVE it? There are very few things I love to do. And I’ve loved them for years. There are always new wrinkles, but I know what they are. (b) Am I really GOOD at it? If I love it, but haven’t shown mastery… watch out. (c)Is it VALUABLE to anyone but me? It’s got to create money, fun, and fulfillment for others for them to want to be involved. = = = = = = = = = = = = (3) Who do I WANT to partner with? I want to do magical shit with fun people. (a) Do I RESPECT and TRUST them? This is personal preference. There are a lot of fucking people I don’t like, and a lot I do. I know the difference. (b) Do they offer something UNIQUE and AMAZING? This is based on my personal opinion. If I don’t think it’s cool, I probably don’t want to be a part of it. (c) Do other people already CARE?
