I am a 61-year-old semi-retired Spanish school teacher who aspires to become a full-time YouTuber. While I have always had a YouTube channel for consuming videos, I am new to the experience of creating content. I am very excited to be part of this community.

Awesome @Maribel Diaz - I've been guilty of too much consumption at times. Definitely feels better to produce stuff.

@Pamela Krista In your case, you could use your Free Podcast Community as your lead Magnet. Then you can refer to a particular resource in your classroom whenever its applicable. That way all the freebies are all in one place, you build as you need and build out your classroom at the same time. Do what you need to to start and add as you go. As you make videos, you could use the AI tactic from above to create new resources so each video becomes a course. They'd be organised as you go and you don't need to manage several landing pages. I'd recommend making sure your questions are turned on when your members apply so you can collect emails (and build the all important contact list so you can get in touch direct when you have something important to share). In your community, you can ask your members when they are getting overwhelmed (then you'll know its too many) - some of your content might be better kept as part of a future paid offer.

Your pic @Des Dreckett stands out. I will say though on the page, the one pictured drew me straight in. Not sure why but I'm guessing its the red background + confrontational gesture.

Welcome @Des Dreckett - crazy how something so small just gets you in. Blue borders did nothing. Red - game changer.
How to Make Money (Indirectly) from Youtube -Thoughts?
It seems to me from my research and more importantly from a Think Media 'Emergency' Livestream I am currently on -The money people make from Youtube is not from Adsense etc and monetisation - it is from THE BUSINESS etc that the channel supports - I assume courses, consulations, offline business, merch, sponsorships etc etc. I will continue with my niche of filmmaking for 40+ but realsise it will likely not yield coaching courses, consulataions etc. Any general thoughts on this issue or people experince of the money aspect ( which is not my primary driver by the way). Thanks David

Hi @David Taylor here's a couple: - Mini-courses: don't forget that things you take for granted are complex tasks for those who are new to filmmaking. Editting software, equipment, setup, tips/tricks to get certain types of shots, etc - The natural extension of this is a community where your followers can compare notes, share experiences, etc - Affiliate links for gear: sign up on Amazon or other equipments suppliers who incentivize referrers. I've seen YouTubers who've got a list of the gear that they're using with links to each item. - Don't underestimate the ability of mature audiences to spend money on a hobby. If they're interested enough to watch you, they may just be interested enough to pay for proximity to you. Regardless of what you choose to sell, make sure that you consider building your email list if you've got one and starting one if you don't. That will give you the ability to sell to your audience down the track, even if you don't know what to sell to them now.
