Thoughts on types of topics and videos?
One of the things I’m thinking about doing for my channel is educational for folks navigating Social Security, Medicare, and other topics related to prep for retirement. I chose it because I spent several years researching for myself so I have good knowledge. The other reason is after being on some Facebook Groups related to the topics, I saw a lot of people who had no clue and a lot of others giving out misinformation. I’ve also helped some family members. I just feel drawn to this and have several thoughts in my head already for the postings. But, there’s always a but … my biggest mental barrier is I don’t like being on camera or videos. I’m much more comfortable behind the scenes. To deal with that I’m think about doing the doodle/cartoon whiteboard type videos. I like doing stuff like that and learning how to use computer programs so that part is in my wheel house, and it would probably make it easier. I also found a program/app to use. While they won’t really have that personal feel or connection, the topics seem to lend themselves to that type of media. So looking for some feed back. Do you think this would be of interest to viewers and what do you think of the doodle type videos?

I think whiteboard type videos are absolutely valid and for topics like yours I can imagine it being actually even a helpful way for explaining maybe complicated details there are definitely very successful channels that don't ever show their face and I'm not referring to those typical faceless channels but I mean real high quality content
POLL: How do you plan to PRIMARILY monetize your channel?
There are many different ways to monetize a channel and some people don't want to monetize at all. I'm just curious, how are you guys planning to go about it? - Do you plan to, at some point, solve your audience's problems with a product or service? - Or do you plan to just rely upon YouTube AdSense? - Or maybe you don't want any revenue? Drop a comment about your MAIN strategy. (Obviously AdSense is a by product of a channel with views, but is it your MAIN goal?)

@Gary Gass that Part makes sense to me, but why would you then switch back from products to ads?

@Gary Gass okay, of course, it’s a side effect anyways. But why stop with the products then? 🤔

Hey Des, Of those you provided, I think number two is the best, but I agree with @Sabrina Mercer . I think with this effect that you've used, the text is too difficult to read, and it takes too much time and too much mental effort to figure out what's written there. I would rearrange the elements in the thumbnail so that you can read the text clearly, that it's much bigger. Also, I would probably not put that much prominence on this sort of YouTube play button icon because it does not intuitively add anything to the thumbnail. For me, it does not represent monetization. It doesn't represent anything that I can relate to in the title, so that's probably something I would make a little bit smaller. Hope that was helpful!
Just Fixed My Biggest Shorts Mistake - 34% View Increase in 3 Weeks
Hey everyone, Figured I'd share a discovery that's actually moved the needle on my channel. [THE MISTAKE I WAS MAKING] I was treating my Shorts like random social media posts - just uploading them individually with zero organization. Turns out this is like having a messy bookshelf where nobody can find anything useful. [WHAT CHANGED EVERYTHING] Last week I organized my existing Shorts into themed playlists. Within 3 weeks: - 34% increase in average views per Short - Viewers went from watching 1.1 Shorts to 2.3 per session - Finally seeing traffic flow from Shorts to my longer videos [THE SIMPLE FIX] Start with just 3 playlists: - Your main topic (ex: "Photography Tips") - Your gear/tools content (ex: "Camera Gear Reviews") - Your behind-the-scenes stuff (ex: "Creator Journey") Sequence them from beginner to advanced - think of it like organizing a course, not just dumping content. Add 10-15 Shorts per playlist - enough for a good binge session without overwhelming. [WHY THIS WORKS] The algorithm treats organized Shorts as series content instead of random uploads. Better organization = better distribution = more views. [ENCOURAGEMENT FOR BEGINNERS] If you only have 5-10 Shorts, that's perfect for testing this. Start organizing now and you'll build good habits as you grow. How are you organizing your Shorts currently? Anyone else tried this approach? Still learning myself, but wanted to share what's working! Would love to hear your experiences.

This is super interesting. I have never considered using playlists for shorts. Is it actually true that shorts within one playlist are more likely to be played after one another? This is huge! Thanks for the update!
