Hunter, NY
First ski of the season in for me. I went to Hunter, NY to hit the slopes today. It felt really good to get some fresh air and do something I love. I got 5 runs in over the course of 1.5 hours. There was nobody at the mountain so I was able to ski right onto the lift. By run 4, my quads were killing me and by my last run, they were on fire. But it felt really good to hit the slopes!

@Jenna Bower Let's just say, Hunter is not Blue. I forgot it's steeper. But 4 of the runs I did were also long.
Hiit the trampoline park
Took my daughter and her friends to the trampoline park. Played hard for 2 hours. We did rock walls / dodge ball / races / basketball / flips and zip lines and more. I am skipping ST today but I definitely get some points for activities. Will jump in tomorrow 💪 Happy Friday !

My Zoey does the same thing, especially in the mornings. She's too cute though!
New Chapter
So, long story short, we suspected my department/project manager had started drinking at work the past few weeks. Several coworkers and I could smell whiskey on him after his frequent trips to his car. He eventually started bringing it into the office and his whole area smelled of alcohol. My colleague and I met with our company's owner (and VP) yesterday to discuss our suspicions and concerns. The VP actually suspected the PM got hooked on drugs after he injured himself back in August by falling off a chair at a conference and hitting his head. Either way it was a situation that was escalating too fast and causing problems. Both my colleague and I were out of the office today. She worked from home and I was skiing. But I got an email from the VP stating that he let Kevin go this afternoon. While I hate watching somebody lose their job, I don't feel bad and I don't feel guilty because he brought this own himself. In the meantime, roles are going to shift, exactly how is something that the VP and I will discuss on Monday. But I do know as the senior person in the group, which is now just 2 of us, I will be taking on more responsibilities of the department/project manager role. So, these next few weeks and maybe months are going to be long learning curves for me. I am both nervous, anxious, and excited. And while I owe a lot to this person who was just let go, I have worked with him for 11ish years, he has also been a negative energy in my life. But I appreciate everything he has taught me in our field.

@Jenna Bower Thank you! I am sad he was let go. I hate that this happened. But I don't feel bad and I don't feel guilty because I do feel like he was asking for this to happen.

@Amanda Steele I agree it is a very said situation! And I did talk to him yesterday evening after he was let go. I could tell he is in denial of the drinking because he kept saying the VP never gave him a reason as to why he was getting let go, which I doubt is true. So, if this isn't his rock bottom, I hope it happens soon so he can get help. And his replacement is something the VP and I will probably talk about on Monday. We had a brief discussion about it Thursday and what he wants of the geo-group. So it'll be determining the role of this new person along with mine and probably hiring another staff person as well.
Rest Day
I haven't had a decent night's sleep since Monday night. The past 2 nights have been the worst with me waking up 2 hours after I go to bed, tossing and turning until almost 3 am. My anxiety is a little high right now with the work situation and the next steps moving forward. Last night my brain was just coming up with topic after topic after topic of balls that have been dropped the past few weeks. At this point, I am exhausted and running on maybe 5 hours of broken up sleep, so I figured a rest day it is.

@Jenna Bower I'm going to try not to take a nap in the hope it helps me sleep tonight. I did start writing a list of house keeping and project based topics to discuss on Monday with the VP. And I'll meet with my one and only group member to go over it with her to make sure I didn't miss anything before I met with him. So hopefully that settles my mind enough tonight too.
