It’s not your engine… it’s your recovery!
If you can push hard but can’t recover fast, you’re not limited by fitness …you’re limited by your ability to clear fatigue and get back to work. This video was from our recent UK seminar tour. Chris breaks down why recovery capacity is the missing link for most athletes and how improving it instantly increases the amount of quality work you can handle. If you feel like you “should be fitter by now”… this might be the reason. We will be posting educational clips each week to get discussions going on the page in an effort to educate you all even more! Comment below if you can relate with this one! Do you think about your recovery during your sessions? If you have any questions surrounding this topic, comment below and @Chris Hinshaw will get back!

Hey Chris, I’d love your thoughts on my heart rate profile from my last HYROX race (screenshot attached). Race stats - Avg HR: 151 bpm - Max HR: 167 bpm - Time in zones: - VO₂ Max 148–165 bpm 81 percent 1:06:58 - Anaerobic 132–147 bpm 18 percent 15:04 - Almost no time spent in lower zones. So I’m basically red-lining from very early on and just sitting there until the end. 1. What does this HR profile tell you about how I’m currently racing and where my limitations are? Is this mostly a pacing issue, a threshold issue, or an overall durability issue? 2. Now that I’m following the Hybrid Racer program, what changes should I expect to see in my HR trace in future races if the training is doing what it should? For example, should I be able to hold a slightly lower HR for the same pace, see less drift, or spend more of the early race closer to threshold rather than “VO₂ max”? 3. Anything in particular you’d focus on to improve this profile for HYROX style racing? Thanks a lot for taking a look.

@Chris Hinshaw no rush and thank you! 🙏🏻
Some feedback
I just wanted to share some feedback because these programs have honestly been making a huge difference for me. Even though I’m not following every single session exactly (since I’m programming and competing as well), I consistently use the HYROX running and conditioning days from the app, and I mix them with some of my CrossFit training. The impact has been unreal. My 1km pace went from around 6:00/km to consistently 4:20–4:30/km in just a few months, which is a massive improvement for me. It’s not just me either — I’m also using this structure for some of my athletes, and I’m seeing incredible progress in them too. They’re currently preparing for an upcoming HYROX competition in Iran next month, and honestly… I think they’re going to crush it. Really appreciate the structure, logic, and quality of the programming. Thanks for building something this effective.

Hey all, just wanted to share some feedback on my experience in here so far. I’ve only been part of the Hybrid Racer platform for a month, but I’ve learned more in that month than I did in the last twelve months of my Hyrox journey. The depth of knowledge from Gus and Chris is unreal, and the support from Rhyss has been top class. Any question I’ve asked has been answered quickly and clearly. I’m in my first full week of training on the main program now after doing the trial and the pre and post race blocks, and I have to say the difference is night and day. The sessions are so well structured and thought out. Every workout has a clear purpose and the feedback you get when you submit your sessions is fast and genuinely helpful. The live calls with Gus and Chris alone are worth the membership. Being able to ask direct questions and get guidance from people operating at that level is something you don’t get anywhere else. Incredible value, highly recommended, and I’m genuinely excited to be here and learning from the best.

Hey Chris and Gus, I tend to fade from lunges through to wall balls. My run pace and output are usually solid early on but my legs blow up late in the race and I can’t get my rhythm back. What would you suggest I adjust in my training so I can hold intensity through the final stations? Thanks.
