Facilitating change in education
Hi everyone! Are there any other education/pedagogy specialists here? I'm working with a team of educators and an amazing school in the US to redefine their pedagogy and approach to teaching that reflects the needs of today's students. I am looking to take my work to other schools and perhaps expand our team of experts. I look forward to hearing from you.

@Anna Shildrick : I click on the link and it says that it cannot find that event. I likely will be able to make it (assuming I can connect), though possibly a little late as I have another appointment before that.

I'm just putting it out there... I'm in the midst of organizing facilitation certification in LEGO® Serious Play® methodology for educators here in Vietnam. Recently did introductory workshops at RMIT University in HCMC and then to educators from Malaysia and Philippines while in Bangkok (look at my LI feed for the backstory). I'm being trained as a trainer & certifier of LSP facilitators as part of this. Are there any educators out there using LSP in the classroom (or outside of it) who would like to share their experience?
📍Where is everyone from?📍
Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

Do you have a Thought Partner?
Many facilitators are also solopreneurs, which means that when it comes to creating workshops they are working on their own. But, it would be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off or to co-create with. We may ask a friend for thoughts and comments (or post on here), but we don't go into depth due to time constraints. A friend of mine had this problem for a Creative Workshop she was going to run and reached out to me. After some discussion we came to the realization that what she was looking for was a Thought Partner. Take a look at the video we made about this, and then add your comments or thoughts below. And if you would like to explore hiring me as a Thought Partner, reach out 😀

@Bill Clarke : ... I'm not sure if this is a general request or directed to someone specific?

I'm currently in Vietnam (Indochina time zone) and frequently traveling, but happy to join if it fits my schedule.
Hello from IBM Design!
Excited to get value and add value to this community! I’ve facilitated over 400 design thinking sessions at IBM since 2021 and work in technology pre-sales as an Innovation Designer. I really thrive at designing pre-sales engagements with cross-functional technology and engineering roles for optimal client experiences. I have over a decade of experience in UX design and work remotely (and travel) from Tampa, FL. I’m here hoping to continue learning, improve my skills, give back, and network! Please reach out if you want to learn more about Enterprise Design Thinking methodology at IBM or anything else!

Facilitation tips from improv theater
I'm a product designer and improviser. It's been such a blessing to practice improv: I have found the principles and mindsets in improv theater helps facilitating workshop so much! Some quick learnings to share: - Energy management - improv teaches you to be adaptive to the moment and work with the energy of the room. I often have an agenda but almost always end up switching things up as I read the energy of the room. If people aren't enthused about an energizer, ditch it. If people are digging an exercise, do more of it or go deeper. - Active, embodied listening - listening goes a long way to get people to fully engage. When the facilitator listens not only to what people are saying but what they fail to express, it unlocks full trust in the facilitator as the guide for everyone's psychological safety. - Accept and expand on offers - as a facilitator, it's an art to say yes to ideas but not blindly. Accepting ideas doesn't mean we have to jump on board enthusiastically every time someone throws out an idea, but to acknowledge the merit of the idea and help them refine it. You can also call on the entire room to do that.
