Converting depth maps into usable geometry
I've been playing around using depthmaps to create geometry like on this free app here. Just give it an image and it'll spit out something like a bass relief or the suplied image. Ive found upscaling and posterizing the image can help bring out better results but still not as good as what I could draw longhand.
Problem is the geometry always needs work and you get a dodgy stl file which is a bit crap for editing. Anyone got any ideas on how to remesh or convert the file in some way. Because drawing this one manually will take some serious time and effort.
Even if I could just get some snapable geometry use as a rough reference to trace and draw a better version over the top would save some hours.
Any thoughts?
I'm all ears!!!
