This past week I was reminded of something I learned 24 years ago... and somehow, I still need the reminder. One of the greatest gifts of franchising isn't the brand. It's the community. Most of us invested in a franchise because we wanted to be in business for ourselves, but not by ourselves. Yet after a few months back home, it's easy to feel like you're on an island. You're making decisions alone, solving problems alone, and carrying the weight alone. Then convention happens. You walk into a room full of people building the same brand, chasing similar dreams, overcoming similar obstacles, and suddenly you remember...I'm part of something much bigger than me. Jim Rohn said, "We're the average of the five people we spend the most time with." I believe that's true because belief is contagious. When you spend time around franchise owners who are growing, leading, dreaming bigger, and celebrating wins, your own thinking expands. Their certainty becomes contagious. Their courage reminds you what's possible. Their energy elevates yours. Humans were never meant to do life alone. Together, we're better. That's why I believe your annual franchise convention isn't optional. It's essential. It's where culture is built, relationships deepen, engagement grows and belief gets restored. After 24 years—and two conventions every year—I still come home energized, grateful, and excited about what's possible over the next six months. If I still need that after all these years, I know I'm not the only one. If your next convention isn't already on your calendar, put it there. Protect it, budget for it, show up fully and participate not because your franchisor needs another attendee, but because you need the reminder of who you are, what you're building, and who you're building it with. And here's something else I've learned...Every franchise owner who elevates themselves elevates the entire brand. Higher-performing franchisees create stronger customer experiences. Stronger customer experiences build stronger brand equity. Stronger brand equity increases the value of everyone's business—including those who will one day sell.

July 3rd. "No one searches for home services on holiday weekends," they said. At 7:53 this morning, after my gratitude exercise and wealth meditation, I got an LSA alert from Google. Someone needed pressure washing. No name. No address. I called anyway. Her name was Kristine. Small job - sidewalk and back patio of a condo. I usually hold a $200 minimum. I heard myself say $150. She was in. Then she asked if I hang holiday lights. "Yes - I hang MY holiday lights." "I think you did that for one of the communities I manage." "Is this Kristine Thompson? I just sent you an email about our Christmas in July promotion." "Yes, it's Kristine Thompson." She is taking the Christmas in July offer. And she is sending my flyers to every property manager at Vesta Property Management. I did not chase this. I did not force it. I did the inner work this morning and then picked up the phone when Google rang. The work works. On a holiday weekend. At 7:53am. Happy 4th.
