Journaling your dev journey
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m thinking about starting a journal to track my software development journey (after more than 3 years working as a developer 🤦‍♂️) and would love to hear your thoughts on this. Have any of you kept a journal of your dev journey? How has it helped you in your career? Would you mind sharing some tips on what you typically include in your entries and how often you update it, how do you categorise it? Thanks a lot for sharing! 😊

What is worth more, changing direction and accept a lower salary but keeping up to date with the latest technology or stay in the same position with high salary but being stuck with the same technology and possibly not keeping up with the times.
I recently had to change my job, I was basically told it would be better to leave the current job. Although it came as a surprise, I accepted the challenge and started looking for a new job. I had many interviews, some wired, some wished they never happened, but I finally managed to get a job in one month and a half that I find really challenging and exciting. With this, I also changed directions, and chose a different path. Even if the salary is not similar with what I get right now, I find the new job more exciting and I am eager to start working and do new stuff. So the question is, is it worth it to keep doing the same things for years for fear of not getting the same salary or is it better to change things, to stay relevant and learn new things but maybe having to accept a lower salary at the beginning, but, at the same time, increasing both your chances of being hired and salary on long term?

Technical Assessment
I recently completed the technical assessment and realized I have significant areas to improve, but I am excited to tackle these challenges. Up to now, my experience has primarily focused on writing code, without any involvement in deployment or code shipping. I've mainly been responsible for delivering specific features or tasks. I would appreciate any advice on the next steps, particularly in what order I should address these technical gaps.

Knowing Yourself Exercise Results
I recently completed the "Knowing Yourself" exercise in the "Mindset of an Expert Developer" course. I learned that my personality type is Campaigner (ENFP-T). I also identified some strengths that will help me in my development career and some weaknesses that I need to manage. You can view my worksheet here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vTMtjtJMrhqQZLhWk6DENFFjcfwUmg2AikLMv-9icx0/edit?usp=sharing I am interested to hear from other members about their personality types and how they manage their strengths and weaknesses.
