What is worth more, changing direction and accept a lower salary but keeping up to date with the latest technology or stay in the same position with high salary but being stuck with the same technology and possibly not keeping up with the times.
I recently had to change my job, I was basically told it would be better to leave the current job. Although it came as a surprise, I accepted the challenge and started looking for a new job. I had many interviews, some wired, some wished they never happened, but I finally managed to get a job in one month and a half that I find really challenging and exciting. With this, I also changed directions, and chose a different path. Even if the salary is not similar with what I get right now, I find the new job more exciting and I am eager to start working and do new stuff.
So the question is, is it worth it to keep doing the same things for years for fear of not getting the same salary or is it better to change things, to stay relevant and learn new things but maybe having to accept a lower salary at the beginning, but, at the same time, increasing both your chances of being hired and salary on long term?
