Framing bias
A very intriguing phenomenon of evolutionary psychology. Consider the 2 statements:
A) 3 out of 5 dentists recommend this toothpaste
B) 2 out of 5 dentist don't recommend this toothpaste
Although both the statements are saying the exact same thing, they have drastically different responses.
A person presented with statement A first is highly likely to use the toothpaste, since it has credibility attached. However, if the same person is presented with statement B first, they are not only more likely to reject the toothpaste, but their probability of doing so is higher than their probability of saying yes in the first scenario! Self-contradiction personified.
We humans are truly more flawed than we realize!
