Power of Silence (Mojo Monday Challenge 16)
Have you ever taken a vow of silence? What if I were to tell you silence is one of the greatest access points to calm the mind? As I attend my 3rd 10 Day Vipassana Silent Meditation Retreat this Wednesday, this week's challenge is to take a vow of silence for any period of time that works. Ideally it's at least a full day if not 2 days, but a half day for a few hours could work. MOJO MONDAY CHALLENGE 16: 1. Watch the video below on how to take a Vow of Silence/Silent Retreat. If you accept this challenge, comment below WHEN you'll take your retreat, where, and for how long. 2. Let us know how last week went for Mojo Monday Week 15 here. 3. Living Meditation (Mojo Monday Challenge 17)
What are ways to make meditation a lifestyle? You don't have to sit on a mat in silence to formally meditate. If you cultivate enough mindful moments over the day, it's as if your brain is in a constant living meditation. Mindful moments are anytime you bring your conscious awareness to the present moment. For this week, practice Living Meditation = Many Mindful Moments Strung Together 1. Moment 1: Pick a habit that's a mundane activity (brushing teeth, etc.) to be mindful and bring conscious awareness to. Focus on the body sensations generated by the activity you are doing. If you are washing dishes or showering, the water on your hands. If you are walking, the feet on the ground, etc.  2. Moment 2: Pick a stressor (something mild, annoying, etc.) to be mindful and bring conscious awareness to. 3. Let us know how last week went for Mojo Monday Week 16 here. 4. Counting Breaths (Mojo Monday Challenge 15)
What does relaxation in chaos look like? What does non-reactivity look like? The source to these questions likes in your breath. The deeper and slower the breath, the more you can easily remain equanimous, without body tension sending distress signals to your brain. MOJO MONDAY CHALLENGE 15: 1. Practice a few super slow intestinals. (Don't know how? Learn here at 15:18) 2. Inhale slowly while pulsing your lower abdomen/Dahnjon (DJ) doing intestinals 4x, hold your breath 4 counts while pulsing your DJ, 4 counts exhale while pulsing the DJ, and hold the breath 4 counts pulsing the DJ. 3. Observe which part of the breath is hardest or most tense for you. The inhale, exhale, or holding at the top or bottom? 4. COMMENT BELOW: Which part of the breath was hardest for you. Play with "the shape of your breath" the remaining week doing the same exercise above, but mixing up the counts. For example, Inhale 3 counts pulsing the DJ, holding 5 counts pulsing the DJ, exhaling 7 counts, and holding 1 second after the exhale. Discover the shape of your breath. Can't wait to hear from your weekly wins what opens up from this exercise! How'd last week go? Let us know how Mojo Monday Week 14 went here.
CEO of your Body (Mojo Monday Challenge 14)
How often do you stop and give gratitude to your body? Your body has trillions of cells working for you nonstop 24/7 without pay and often without thanks. For the most, we aren’t paying attention unless we get a diagnosis, an injury, or something feels sore or stiff with limited mobility. Now imagine you are the CEO of your body, with trillions of workers faithfully showing up without a paycheck all day every moment just to nurture you. What would you want to say to them? MOJO MONDAY WEEKLY CHALLENGE 14 1. Each day, express gratitude to your cells. It could be a particular organ, a particular part of the body like an arm or thumb or your eyeballs. Notice how it feels inside to stop and pause giving thanks to yourself 3. Comment on 2 other people's posts. If you choose to accept this weekly challenge, comment below what your first message to your cells are. How'd last week go? Did you complete Mojo Monday Weekly Challenge 13? Let us know here on this post then comment on at least 2 other people's post.
