Sometimes the universe shouts the answer out to you in the form of a book. It did to me this past week. When two people totally unconnected to each other recommended that I read Mel Robbins' The Let Them Theory I thought I better give it a try. I had never heard of Mel Robbins (I must be living under a rock!), but now I want to read her other books. Her Theory of Let Them helps you to stop trying to control other people's actions and choices and instead (Let Me) concentrate on your own. I can truly say this book changed my life and for that I am thankful.

@Lori Theriault Thanks for reminding me about The Book of Alchemy. I've been meaning to read it. I read her memoir Between Two Kingdoms and loved it. I didn't know about her substack posts! She's a lovely writer who has faced a lot in her life.
Living Meditation (Mojo Monday Challenge 17)
What are ways to make meditation a lifestyle? You don't have to sit on a mat in silence to formally meditate. If you cultivate enough mindful moments over the day, it's as if your brain is in a constant living meditation. Mindful moments are anytime you bring your conscious awareness to the present moment. For this week, practice Living Meditation = Many Mindful Moments Strung Together 1. Moment 1: Pick a habit that's a mundane activity (brushing teeth, etc.) to be mindful and bring conscious awareness to. Focus on the body sensations generated by the activity you are doing. If you are washing dishes or showering, the water on your hands. If you are walking, the feet on the ground, etc.  2. Moment 2: Pick a stressor (something mild, annoying, etc.) to be mindful and bring conscious awareness to. 3. Let us know how last week went for Mojo Monday Week 16 here. 4. Comment on 2 people's posts and support them!

For the Mojo Monday Challenge 16, I took a vow of silence on Saturday. For several hours I went into a deep dive of my priorities. The result? I've realized I'm doing too much and need to cut back. I have especially overcommitted to social activities which have left me scattered, not calm. In my silent mode I made some hard decisions about dropping out of the commitments that at the moment are no longer working for me. In that silence with myself I realized that I can always go back to this socializing at a later date. For now, I need to be more with myself, not others.
What health care worker do you need to thank?
During the pandemic people in New York banged on pots every night to thank health care workers during that stressful time. But we need to be thankful every day for those who work tirelessly to keep us healthy. Is there a particular doctor, nurse, physical therapist or psychologist whom you'd especially like to thank this week? Today is Thankful Thursday!

Today I had my routine biannual appointment with my general doctor. He's a gerontologist. When I first signed up with him (I was one of his youngest patients then), he told me that all of his patients who make it to 100 get a cupcake. Today I felt a wave of gratitude when he applauded me for keeping active as I age. I guess I'm going for that cupcake.
What wins (or win) did you rack up this week?
Holidays can throw us off track -- or inspire us to keep on track. Which one was it for you? What were your wins (or win) for this week? From successes in the new breathing exercise to keeping up past challenges, what can you put in the win column?

For me the holiday week was a physical and mental challenge. I guess I don't do holidays well. I will be glad to get back to a more normal routine. But even in the chaos of last week, I can report a win: I consistently ate an apple and carrot every day. Also, today I started my tea advent calendar (marking the 24 days leading up to Christmas). The first tea offered was a delicious Manuka Honey Chamomile Herbal Tea -- which hopefully will kickstart another win: weaning myself away from too much coffee!

@Melanie Trent Especially like the part about enjoying pie!
Power of Silence (Mojo Monday Challenge 16)
Have you ever taken a vow of silence? What if I were to tell you silence is one of the greatest access points to calm the mind? As I attend my 3rd 10 Day Vipassana Silent Meditation Retreat this Wednesday, this week's challenge is to take a vow of silence for any period of time that works. Ideally it's at least a full day if not 2 days, but a half day for a few hours could work. MOJO MONDAY CHALLENGE 16: 1. Watch the video below on how to take a Vow of Silence/Silent Retreat. If you accept this challenge, comment below WHEN you'll take your retreat, where, and for how long. 2. Let us know how last week went for Mojo Monday Week 15 here. 3. Comment on 2 people's posts and support them!

This is an intriguing exercise. I seek some silence with myself every day -- journaling, usually -- but this sounds more intentional and might work better if it was longer, a block of time. I'm going to try to it on Saturday.
