gets Ronin of the day award for boldly asking his question today... In answering him...
I wanted to highlight how the tables can (and often do) turn when you take the Ronin Investor stance:
The secret is NOT rushing to a S _ _ _ _ _ _ _!
(Comment below if you GET IT!)
Here's a rip from the comments:
good man! After “hello” and a small convo comes a “coffee date”….
It’s a coffee date, not a sales call or a marriage proposal.
We explore if it even makes sense to have a first date.
On a coffee date we ask questions about them…where they want to go…what they are doing now…what holds them back…and then we explore if that’s something we want to help with or not.
If it is we take all the risk out and ask them to dinner/test.
It seems confusing until you actually talk to a real live person.
It will seem hard if you are trying to SELL something
It will be a breeze if you have a conversation, listen and then you both discover what is missing for them.
“So you’ve got 1 million+ subscribers and they all love you and you are getting some sponsorships, but you don’t want to keep pushing ads at them and you’re not making enough money to quit your dental hygienist job? You’d rather just make content all day and not have to polish people’s teeth?”
^that’s what listening sounds like.
What you’re offering is not a “service”...
...but them not looking in people's mouths and smelling bad breath 40 hours a week.
Then you keep on exploring…
And listen…
“I’m sure you’ve considered creating a course? With your following and love they’d buy a crap ton I’d think?
Them: I’d do that but I don’t know where to start. I’ve bought several courses on making a course, but it’s too much. I just want to make videos on PickleBall.
“What if we could get you course money without you having to build the course?”
Them: How would we do that?
“Here’s what it could look like…most of your subscribers love you and they’d all like to get to know each other. It's already pent-up desire and demand.
It would be work, but you could set up a community instead of a course and ask for $49 to $99 a month.
Based on numbers I’ve seen from 1 million subs you’d put in 1000 people right away. $1000 times $99 is almost $100,000 a month. Would that be worth doing?”
Them: It’d totally be worth doing, but I wouldn’t know where to start?
“I’ve got an idea. We’ll probably both want to sleep on it. But what if I put it all together for you? I love Pickleball and I think with all the social media folks really need healthier hobbies. So, I’d invest in you and Pickleball. I’d get a team to do all the work. I’d use all my money. You’d bring your smile and subscriber base and we could split the revenue? Is that an awful idea?”
Them: OMG. You’d do that?
“Let me think more on it. I’m not 100% sure. Let me talk with some partners. Could we get back together again next week after I’ve had some time?”
🫵Do ya see how we can be the investor?
Rooting For Ya,
Travis
