Why I Pass On MOST Deals Today...
Just like when it came to desiring an intimate relationship...
...the difference between chasing and pursuing...
...came down to my short-term vs my long-term focus.
When I was seeking short-term gratification...
I would tend to chase...
Cause I didn't think I was enough or "OK" as I was...
So I would come from a needy and desperate place for that quick fix of validation.
But when I chose to pursue something long-term and meaningful I was intentional about who I decided to pursue.
Because I saw it as a long-term investment...
I began seeing myself as enough and behaving in congruent ways.
I began coming FROM a much more grounded less needy place.
And because of it, today I'm in a wonderful long-term relationship with all the short-term benefits too:-)
But to quote what I'm about to say may not be 100% true for everyone but it sure as hell is 100% useful...
I see partnership deals the same way.
Chasing less-than-ideal partners for a payday because I don't have enough in the bank...
...with the hope of coming across a long-term partner tomorrow?
Comes at a cost.
That's like saying I'm gonna play around in short-term relationships until my awesome relationship shows up.
That's never worked out for me in the past.
The time I've SPENT in non-qualified partners that didn't work out doesn't hold a candle to the partnerships I've taken my time and INVESTED in.
Sometimes it's just a matter of slowing up to hurry up.
When I do? I get the short-term benefits (big paydays) but with a long-term partner (so we can run campaigns over and over again)
Deals that are short-term focused so I "get paid" have usually resulted in a COST of time, energy, and resources that I can't get back when those deals don't produce squat.
Not to mention it's EASY to start making the results mean something about myself, my skills, or my abilities.
When in fact it's just a reflection of my short-term focus and choosing LESS than ideal partners.
I'm sure from the outside it looks like there are holes in what I'm sharing.
I'm just saying this has been true for me.
When I stand back and check where my FOCUS is?
I tend to make wiser decisions that save me time, energy, and money...both today AND tomorrow.
In your corner,
~ Tony
