I ran across a video from The Armory (solid YouTube channel which mixes Western and Asian business dress), and they ran into a notation system to easily describe how to tie any tie knot. It was developed from two professors, Drs. Fink and Mao, which is described here: https://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/~tmf20/tieknots.shtml. It uses very few letters to describe every knot move and then they detail their code for 85 different knots. One thing to keep in mind is the their L and R and observer based, not self based. Reverse them when doing it in a mirror. The video link from The Armory is here: https://youtu.be/0M8lnChwgv0?is=5nSzvwJVcFjvYupZ
