Good morning ladies and gentlemen: One thing I had to deal with and learn in life is the difficulty in making choices. If you are like many people choices can become so daunting that it sends you into a panic attack ( not really, figuratively speaking). One day I was reading this story and it really changed my approach on things. Many of you might not have this dilemma in life and thatâs is awesome; but if you do, this might help you as well or maybe someone you know. So thereâs a story about a shoe salesman in Los Angeles in 1950s I canât remember his name, but he was a very successful and owned a whole bunch of womenâs shoe stores. A journalist asked him whatâs your secret and he said âtwo not threeâ and the journalist was like what do you mean? He said If woman comes into my store Iâll bring a pair of shoes. Sheâll try them on and sheâll say can I see that pair please, and Iâll bring her a second pair of shoes, and sheâll say can I also see that pair please? Heâll say which one would you like me to take away? The reason is, because what he found if they had a choice of three they bought none, and when they had a choice of two they bought one. Why? Because thatâs too much choices. So what I started doing this in my life. Iâve added constraint; which is like, Iâve got all these options on the table that donât matter. So what Iâll start doing is; Iâll start pairing them, off between these two. Get rid of that and between these two get rid of that one, and the choices become really easy and then I get to the final two. This little exercise in decision making will help make rational decisions in a timely manner without the unnecessary stress.
