I need a coat for winter but i am new to this…

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the middle of refining my personal style — aiming for a smart casual look that feels clean, intentional, but still relaxed enough for daily wear.

Now winter’s closing in here in Norway, and I’ve realized I need a proper coat that matches this direction. The weather here swings from cold rain to freezing snow, so I’m looking for something practical and stylish — ideally a coat I can wear every day without feeling overdressed.

For context, my current go-to outfits usually include chinos, heavy t-shirts, wool overshirts, and chukka boots. I like timeless, structured pieces, but not full businesswear. Mainly earthy tones.

I’d love your input on what kind of coat to look into — wool overcoat, field jacket, parka, something else? What’s worked for you guys when balancing style with real winter conditions?

When it comes to the budget, I am a believer in quality, buy once, cry once😄
