Formatting Is the Silent Hero of Amazon Publishing 📚
Many authors spend weeks or even months writing a book, but one thing that often gets overlooked is formatting. You can have amazing content, but if readers open your book and see inconsistent fonts, poor spacing, strange page breaks, misplaced images, or an unprofessional layout, it immediately affects the reading experience. Good formatting helps with: ✔ Professional appearance ✔ Better reader experience ✔ Correct chapter structure ✔ Clickable table of contents for ebooks ✔ Proper margins and trim sizes ✔ KDP compliance and fewer publishing issues ✔ Smooth conversion across ebook and print versions Publishing on Amazon is not just about uploading a manuscript and clicking "Publish." Small details matter. Have you ever come across a great book with poor formatting that affected your reading experience? 👇
KDP Account Creation
Came here as I know you guys can help. I have a personal consumer Amazon account. I want to create a totally separate KDP business account. When I start, it asks for my Amazon account details or asks if I want to create a new account. Can/should I create a new account (new email and new LLC) or login with my Amazon account? I would prefer to create a new account, but is considered two accounts? Thanks in advance.
Andrey, Could You Share Your Facebook Review Strategy?
Hi @Andrey Bernhart I hope you're doing well. First of all, I want to say that I really enjoy your YouTube content. I've learned a lot from your videos, and I'm genuinely interested in learning more from your experience with Amazon KDP. My first book got 30+ organic reviews in less than 30 days. My biggest challenge right now is getting those initial verified reviews that can help build trust with readers and improve ad performance. I don't need a large number of reviews—just enough genuine, verified reviews to give the book a solid foundation before scaling ads. I've heard you mention Facebook as part of your review strategy, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to share how you use Facebook to attract real readers and generate verified reviews. I'm specifically interested in ethical, Amazon-compliant methods that bring in genuine readers rather than review swaps. Any advice, resources, direction, or any video, notes, or guidance directly from you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all the value you provide through your content, and I look forward to learning more from you
Bonus Content in Books and VAT Issues – How Do You Handle It?
Hi everyone, I have a question about using bonuses in books to build an email list. I often hear the recommendation to include a bonus resource (such as audio files, meditations, worksheets, etc.) and provide access through a QR code or link inside the book. This seems like a great way to grow an email list and connect with readers. However, I recently added a few bonus meditations to one of my German books. The book itself contains 233 pages of original content, and the meditations are only an optional extra. After a review, Amazon changed the VAT classification from the reduced VAT rate for books to the standard VAT rate. As a result, the retail price increased significantly, while my royalties remained the same. Unfortunately, this also makes the book much less competitive in the market. I’m now wondering how other publishers and authors handle this. Do you include bonuses in your books? If so, how do you structure them to avoid VAT or classification issues? Are there best practices for building an email list through book bonuses without risking a change in VAT treatment? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations. Thank you!
AI Disclosure Views
Question about using PublishFlow (or any other AI tool that generates a working first draft): Do all those who use it disclose that the book has been created by AI for KPD? Some people may use the text generated almost as is, while others will review, reorder, and edit it heavily. In the first scenario, I would expect the answer to be yes, but in the second scenario, looking at the KDP options to choose from, I think it's less clear-cut. Options as per KDP are: - AI-generated: We define AI-generated content as text, images, or translations created by an AI-based tool. If you used an AI-based tool to create the actual content (whether text, images, or translations), it is considered "AI-generated," even if you applied substantial edits afterwards. - AI-assisted: If you created the content yourself and used AI-based tools to edit, refine, error-check, or otherwise improve that content (whether text or images), then it is considered "AI-assisted" and not “AI-generated.” Similarly, if you used an AI-based tool to brainstorm and generate ideas, but ultimately created the text or images yourself, this is also considered "AI-assisted" and not “AI-generated.” It is not necessary to inform us of the use of such tools or processes. There isn't one for this exact scenario, where you use AI for the initial draft but then do considerable editing and refinement work, so I just wanted to see what the consensus is. Thank you
