KDP Account Creation
Came here as I know you guys can help. I have a personal consumer Amazon account. I want to create a totally separate KDP business account. When I start, it asks for my Amazon account details or asks if I want to create a new account. Can/should I create a new account (new email and new LLC) or login with my Amazon account? I would prefer to create a new account, but is considered two accounts? Thanks in advance.

@Terrence Brown Good question 😊 From what I understand, many people use their existing Amazon account to open KDP because KDP is connected to Amazon. The important thing is avoiding multiple KDP accounts under the same person without a valid reason, since that can create account issues. If you're setting things up as a separate LLC/business structure, it may be worth making sure everything is properly aligned from the beginning. Curious to hear from others who have set up dedicated business structures and how they approached it.
Fonts & Sizes
Looking for some formatting advice. For a self help book, what is your recommended font type and font size? Following on from that, what is the recommended line height? Maybe preferred is a better word than recommended. Should we be aiming for a word count on the page (my book is 5.5" x 8.5") and this decides. I'd love to know your thoughts on this.

@Nigel Howard, Great question, For self-help books, readability is usually more important than squeezing more words onto a page. Personally, I’ve seen many people prefer clean fonts like Garamond, Georgia, or Times New Roman for print interiors. Around 11–12 pt is often comfortable for a 5.5" x 8.5" book, with line spacing around 1.15–1.5 depending on the font and overall layout. I’d focus less on fitting a specific number of words per page and more on making the reading experience feel clean and easy on the eyes. Curious to hear what fonts and spacing combinations others here have found work best.
Formatting Is the Silent Hero of Amazon Publishing 📚
Many authors spend weeks or even months writing a book, but one thing that often gets overlooked is formatting. You can have amazing content, but if readers open your book and see inconsistent fonts, poor spacing, strange page breaks, misplaced images, or an unprofessional layout, it immediately affects the reading experience. Good formatting helps with: ✔ Professional appearance ✔ Better reader experience ✔ Correct chapter structure ✔ Clickable table of contents for ebooks ✔ Proper margins and trim sizes ✔ KDP compliance and fewer publishing issues ✔ Smooth conversion across ebook and print versions Publishing on Amazon is not just about uploading a manuscript and clicking "Publish." Small details matter. Have you ever come across a great book with poor formatting that affected your reading experience? 👇
Formatting Issues
Has anyone dealt with widespread formatting issues in Publish Flow before exporting? Looking for the fastest way to fix inconsistent fonts, spacing, and styles across a long document without going line by line.

@The Carla Project That can become really frustrating with longer documents 😕 Instead of fixing everything line by line, I’d first look for a way to apply consistent styles globally so headings, body text, spacing, and fonts update together. Curious to hear what workflows others here use for cleaning up formatting quickly before export. And how is it now.
Always back up your manuscript while working
Hey everyone, just a word of caution to always back up your manuscript on Google Docs or any other program. I've encountered the following issues recently: 1. I asked the AI writing assistant to suggest a change for a certain section and it went ahead and rewrote the entire chapter, when I tried undoing it, the software froze after a few clicks, so I had to reopen the tab and the change was irreversible. 2. I was working on my manuscript doing chapter by chapter generations and edits. Once I eventually got to Chapter 6, the software wrote it, but also deleted all my previous chapters. Has anyone else encountered these issues? Is it perhaps better to generate the entire manuscript before editing? Thanks all.

@Miles Briones Thanks for sharing this because it’s a really important reminder 👏 Losing content after spending time writing and editing can be frustrating. Backing up manuscripts regularly is definitely a good habit, especially when working with AI tools. I’m curious as well if others have experienced similar issues and whether generating the full manuscript first before editing creates a smoother workflow.
