Why “Seinfeld” and “Soap Operas” Might Be the Secret to Growing Your Business!
Follow-Up Funnels are Russell Brunson’s Secret #7 in DotCom Secrets, and they’re the missing link that turns leads into loyal customers.
These follow-up messages are ALL about keeping your audience engaged and moving them up the Value Ladder, and Russell teaches two powerful types of messages to make it happen: Soap Opera Sequences and Daily Seinfeld Emails.
Here’s what these two messaging styles can do for your business:
1️⃣ Soap Opera Sequences: The Start of the Relationship
Goal: Quickly build a relationship with your Attractive Character, guide new leads through your initial funnel, and move them to the next stage in your Value Ladder.
How It Works: Just like a soap opera, this sequence takes your subscribers through a storyline over several days. It creates curiosity, reveals your backstory, and builds a powerful connection that draws them in. Every message in this sequence is designed to “hook” the reader and lead them toward taking that next step.
The Hook: It’s about introducing your audience to YOU (or your Attractive Character) and connecting them to your story so they can relate and trust you.
The Journey: Each email is like a new episode, with cliffhangers that keep them excited for what’s coming next!
2️⃣ Daily Seinfeld Emails: Re-engagement with a Twist
Goal: Keep people engaged over the long term, bring them back into your Value Ladder, and encourage interaction even when they’re not in a specific follow-up sequence.
How It Works: Just like the TV show Seinfeld, these emails are “about nothing”—they’re casual, everyday messages that let your audience peek into your life or learn a fun story. This style helps maintain the relationship with those who aren’t currently in one of your funnels.
The Engagement: These emails feel friendly and lighthearted, keeping your brand top of mind while adding personality to every interaction.
The CTA: Even if the story seems like “nothing,” there’s usually a subtle nudge back to your Value Ladder, encouraging them to re-engage, check out new offers, or revisit your latest funnel.
How YOU Can Apply This:
  1. Set Up a Soap Opera Sequence for New Leads: Map out a 5-day sequence with a storyline that introduces them to your Attractive Character and gently guides them to your next offer. Think of each email as an “episode” with a specific goal!
2. Craft Seinfeld Emails for Ongoing Engagement: Use Seinfeld emails to re-engage people over the long term. Share simple stories, tips, or interesting moments that build rapport, then add a light call-to-action that leads back to your funnel.
With the Challenger Syndicate Community, I’m planning on using a Soap Opera Sequence to onboard new members, pulling them through our initial journey and introducing them to our core values.
Once they’re familiar with the community, I’ll keep the engagement going with Seinfeld-style emails, sharing stories from our members’ journeys, behind-the-scenes moments, and quick lessons they can use right away!
