1 year ago I was barely making any money, $500 was my first client. But I was spending half of it. So really it was more like $250 every single month.
I had no way of knowing whether I could close some sales next month. I wasn't confident in what I did which was closing sales.
My parents said I had to get a real job other than the online sales job, I had to leave the house and work at some stupid restaurant.
And that's what fired me up. Thinking of myself 5-10 years down the line working at a physical job I do not love, being controlled by a boss working on specific times & days wasn't it for me.
The more I entertained that horrible fantasy, the more I realized I had to make this work, I had to learn to close deals effectively.
So as the months went by I tried Jeremy Miner courses, Bill Welsh, Closer Cartel, etc. All these multi-million-dollar sales trainers promised me that I would get to live in Bali remotely closing and making 100k/mo. Well, that was a lie.
Because none of them gave me the tools I thought I needed to live in Bali doing remote closing making 100k/mo (which is what they promised)
What I did learn however was the complete opposite of what I thought I needed to learn. This might sound surprising but that was I learnt all about human psychology and why humans do the things they do, why they make decisions and how. It's the same thing that helped me lose over $15,000 in LTV clients last month.
And after tripling my income here's what I learnt:
I knew it wasn't about the sales scripts, closing techniques, or the fake inauthentic questioning anymore. I knew it was about learning the fundamentals of human psychology
So I spent hours and upon hours a day reading books, listening to psychology podcasts, studied from mentors & coaches, and that's where it has led me now.
Helping other people not go through this trickery of the sales industry but teaching them the basics of sales & persuasion, and purging everything else that does not serve in helping them close deals.
Teaching how to close the same 4-5 figure deals as I have. The point here is not to boast about numbers, but it's to show you that you have to go against the grain
Learn things your way, learn the fundamentals and don't listen to the people whom everyone sees as the "successors". You have to take it to step 1: learn why humans do the things they do. Keep pulling & pushing everyone! We all have our timelines!
