Hurdle step-over start
Acceleration and Stride turnover drills
The setup uses 30cm x5cm strips and I will probably look for something slightly wider and longer (heavier) so the strips don’t move if the athlete hits the strip. Wickets use the 15cm hurdles. I look at where the athlete is landing in relation to the strip or wicket and makes adjustments. For the wickets, I move it out 1/2 a shoe whenever they are starting to look close the hitting the hurdles. Ideally they should be hitting halfway or 2/3rds distance Be sure to hit the Fullscreen view option. 👍

Using the wicket drill to improve running technique for junior athletes
Here we are using the wicked drill for a 10-year-old athlete wanting to improve running technique. We adjust the spacing to get her to turn over properly and focus on driving her arms and extend the spacing slightly to get her feeling that she needs to push off the ground more strongly in order to run over the wickets with a fast motion. https://youtube.com/shorts/5NFkFGmGt0E?si=h3Ps07-nfDxfNg4w

Helping junior team sport athletes get faster
When working with Junior athletes you want to keep the cues simple and concise and using external visual cues is helpful to get them to make adjustments without giving them too many instructions. Most of them are pretty good with the visual learning tools, so the video helps give them quick feedback so they can see what adjustments they might need to make to the movement and most importantly they need to feel the change is positive.

Effective starting from a 2 point stance.
What do you see here in this video that you would change? Is the athlete starting effectively to improve his first three steps of the Mark or getting to a contest? What feedback or cues would you give this athlete?
Effective starting from a 2 point stance.
