Exam - Level 1 - Owain Lawson
Reflecting from when you started, how does it feel to have levelled up? As someone who could already do all of the level 1 moves, I really found an appreciation for training without a specific goal or challenge, just moving around and enjoying the basics, rather than having to push myself to do big, high energy flips. It took until near the end of filming this for me to fully adopt this mindset, as there were moments where I just wanted to just do flips, but I am now able to have fun just doing the basics. During the hardest part of your training, what challenges hit you the hardest and how did you push through it? The hardest part was keeping up motivation to complete the exam, as I did most of it, and then didn't feel like doing it for over a week, and then finished off the rest of it. It felt very boring and easy at the start, and I overcame this by pushing myself to explore, find new spots near me, and try to be creative with my moves. I think really focusing on exploring, and finding cool spots, rather than the actual movements is a really good mindset shift for anyone who can already easily do the level 1 movements. I also found that taking your time and doing it across multiple sessions, rather than trying to tick them all off in one day, will help you to make the most out of it. Imagine your a coach give advice for all those starting Parkour for the first time. What would be 1 wisdom you'll share with them? Never think that the basics are too easy for you, and keep training them even after you learn them. You can always make even the easiest moves much more difficult, and becoming confident in the basics makes learning any other move so much easier

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽? Going back to the basics and completing the level 1 exam allowed me to appreciate the fundamental skills that I use to practise every single day when I first started. It's because of these beginner moves that I am now able to safely explore my world and try amazing parkour challenges. I've even taken inspirations from some of the level 1 skills and started using them in my flow line! 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗶𝘁? The hardest challenge for me was finding cool spots and obstacles to showcase the skills for you. What I really wanted to do with this exam was to present every parkour skill in as many different environments as I can so you can get inspiration and see your world in a different way. How did I push through it? I spent a lot of time exploring, taking over a week to film this Level 1 exam. But because of this, I found really fun parkour spots that I will now take my friends to train at. WIN!!! 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝟭 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺? As a level 6 athlete showcasing my level 1 skills, I will 100% guarantee that you will continue to use every single skill on level 1 throughout your journey. I can make a massive list of all the higher level skills that needs the fundamental skills you've learnt, but... trust me, as you level up, you'll see. My biggest wisdom I will share with you: 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗦 If you don't train hard and learn the basics, your future parkour self will regret it... Don't be that person. This was super fun to do! I really enjoyed each skill and loved making this video for you all. Keen for level 2! Train Hard and #PlayDifferently /Alex
