Sinking into 2026..
A friend shared this Instagram post with me yesterday, and it resonated deeply. It feels like it speaks to the collective moment many of us are in.
It referenced Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy (a spiritual movement that emphasizes the connection between the spiritual and material worlds) and how he suggested spending the days after Christmas, before New Year/Epiphany when it feels as though we're in liminal space.
The post reads:
"Steiner taught that the Earth is not a dead sphere but a living being that breathes with the cosmos.
In summer it opens outward toward the stars. In winter it turns inward, drawing spiritual forces deep into its body.
At the Winter Solstice, this inward breath reaches its deepest point. By Christmas, the Earth has completed its great inhilation. Everything has fallen into stillness. The outer world is dark, and so the inner world becomes luminous.
He taught that during this corridor the etheric and astral worlds overlap more closely with physical reality. Dreams, intuition, memory can become stronger.
The future is not yet fixed. It is being woven. Steiner described this as a moment when the deepest layers of the human soul rise closer to awareness, just as the Earth itself has descended into darkness
He gave no elaborate rituals for these nights. His instruction was simply:
Do not strive.
Do not force.
Sink.
Like a seed falling into winter soil, the soil should rest into the mystery. The cosmos is doing the work. Your task is only to be receptive. This is why silence, rest, gentle reflection and dream awareness are so powerful now. Even five minutes of true presence carries extraordinary weight."
The post is long and speaks to ancient calendars and wisdom that align with making this specific time of the year one of deep rest and the whole thing validated for my body, mind and spirit have been feeling especially in the last two weeks.
With all this being said, I hope you all had peaceful holidays if you celebrate, and that you are all SINKING into 2026 with deep rest. What have the last two weeks felt like for you?
