Grip Strength
How are your hands? Are you noticing any changes? Is it more challenging to carry heavy groceries? Harder to open jars?
I include grip strength work in my training.
I show three strengtheners in the attached videohttps://youtube.com/shorts/PtQJ2ayUbME
  1. Ball squeeze
  2. Dumbbell squeeze
  3. Palm lift
And here are more ideas:
4. ring a towel
5. farmer's walk holding weights or kettlebells or water bottles same in each hand
6. suitcase hold holding one weight in one hand and walking tall
New research by Dr Darryl P Leong et al. published in The Lancet also showed that "measurement of grip strength is a simple, inexpensive risk-stratifying method for all-cause death, cardiovascular death, and cardiovascular disease. Further research is needed to identify determinants of muscular strength and to test whether improvement in strength reduces mortality and cardiovascular disease." Also, Mengzhao Cui et al., Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, found that "Lower grip strength is associated with more risk of onset of cognitive decline and dementia despite of subtype of dementia."
How do you work your grip strength?
