Instagram Reels Are Where It's At
I release 2 YouTube Shorts per day on YouTube. YouTube Shorts are literally the same thing as Instagram Reels and TikTok videos, since all the platforms are competing for the short attention spans of dummies who are too bored to do something better with their time.
So anyway, since YouTube Shorts are directly compatible with Instagram Reels, I just figured that I could at least blow the dust off my Instagram profile and post one per week on Instagram.
My entire life is run by Google Calendar. So I initially set a 30 minute block (It never takes that long) somewhere each week. Here are the results:
Week 1: 1,000 views
Week 2: 2,000 views
Week 3: 1.2 million views
That's right. By week 3, one video got over a million views within a matter of days.
Now I'm sure we can all be convinced that you're not gonna get a million views on your fucking selfies or that cool photo of you putting oil on your hairty chest. Or whatever you're doing. No judgment.
I just posted another Instagram Reel today about 2 hours ago, but the one before that is way up to 600,000 views and still counting.
These notifications are here to say. I'm in charge now. I would like to take this chance to apologize to absolutely nobody.
But on a serious note, the lesson we can take from this is that:
  1. You may be holding onto something that is valuable somewhere else.
  2. Video content is better than photo content.
