AI and it's impact on the music industry
I read a very interesting article this morning from the CEO of discmaker regarding AI's impact on the future of music and what it means for independent artists, writers and music producers. Personally I found it very enlightening. Check it out if you get the chance.
So many lawsuits. I'm getting dizzy.
Seriously I don't know what the count is at this point nor if we've already discussed the Round Hill lawsuits against both Suno and Anthropic for $1 Billion each. And Round Hill is taking no prisoners. They're statement of intent is that they are not looking to settle. https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/round-hill-sues-suno-and-anthropic-for-up-to-1bn-apiece-it-isnt-looking-to-settle/
New Category - Ai related
We're just letting people know that we understand Ai is part of the music business and can be a very polarizing subject. In light of that, we have created an Ai Related category and all Ai discussions should be posted under that category. All conversations pertaining to Ai, or any other subject, must remain friendly and positive or they will be removed. We strive to create a safe and positive environment here, and although we encourage discussion, we never want anyone to feel their opinion isn't valid, for or against a subject. Thank you for understanding this. It is important that people come here focusing on what THEY need to move forward toward their goals, and we are here to help everyone achieve the level they want to reach. The Mentors here work hard with people to help with their specific situations and strive to keep them on track. If anyone has anything they wish to discuss concerning this, or any other subject, feel free to reach out to me so we can make sure you are getting the most from your membership. That is our main mission. Keep Creating, and See you around the Virtual Campus!! Nick Allegro - Community Moderator, Mentor, (and All Around Nice Guy)

Update on Suno copyright lawsuit
Today a German court ruled against Suno. https://www.dw.com/en/german-court-rules-that-ai-music-firm-suno-violated-copyrights/a-78152227 As expected they've violated copyrights, and following this ruling I expect more countries/courts to follow. Suno hides behind so-called US law, but US law, insofar as it is actually applicable, is of course not applicable to the rest of the world. I am curious to see which direction this takes. From a creative standpoint and to protect the musicians who actually laid the foundation for a creative process that, thanks to their efforts, led to an actual creative end product that's being used without consent. As I have indicated earlier in discussions on this forum, I have no problem with AI as a tool, as long as it is done in a fair way. AI will be a part of our future. It is up to us musicians, mix and master engineers, producers, and artists to use AI in a fair, responsible, and creative way. We choose the tools. We derive appreciation from our hard work. I know that there are a few strong Suno supporters, with an equal strong opinionian as I have, out here. That's OK. Rock on! 😉
