Focusing on Moog Minimoog Now!
Today I begin my deep dive into the Moog Minimoog synthesizer! I have a feeling there’s someone out there who uses it every day… knows it very well… If you are that mysterious wizard, then I’m your student. If you’re not, welcome, let's be confused together. Let this new adventure begin! Today I already learned that it's monophonic, designed to produce: thick bass or fat leads. It follows signal chain: SOUND CREATION -> SOUND SHAPING -> VOLUME SHAPING

@Maxwell Xaviour thank you. It was so useful for me. I had no idea Minimoog has limitations like only one fixed low-pass filter, only monophonic, simple LFO (need to dive into LFO topic in April). I also didn’t know that one synthesizer like Serum can replace any synthesizer, including Moog. I thought Moog is something unique that Serum cannot do.

@Maxwell Xaviour oh Moog is unique, ok
Starting My New Journey: 2 Plugins Per Week | 8 Plugins Per Month | 96 Plugins Per Year
I finally did an inventory of all the plugins I own… and the number is around 300 🤯 But they are useless if I don’t truly know them. So I’m starting a long-term journey of studying and testing each plugin, beginning with the most important ones. My plan: - 2 plugins per week - 3 days study per plugin - at least 1 hour each day - Sunday review of both plugins That means 8 plugins per month and so 96 plugins per year. I’m committing to some understanding how each plugins shapes tone, dynamics, color, and workflow. It’s going to take time and patience. But honestly… there’s no other way. Is there? Gotta do it!

@Scott Klemm Ok today is my first day to review dbx 160. Wow, it’s basically the tool for all the foundation elements - kick, bass, snare, vocal

@Scott Klemm oh but mostly it’s a punch enhancer. When we need something punchy but not loud. Diving deeper into dbx.

@George Legion Otigbah yeah I don’t know, I wish Kevin could explain why he does not cut low end. I haven’t heard the reason. My guess is he preserves the integrity of the sound.

@Forever Simon I have to admit I never used VU meter before Kevin, I even thought it was just measure in the past that is useless in modern music productions. I had no idea it measures energy, not transients. What a surprise!
New Members Club Collaboration Tool - FREE :)
We always want to encouraging you to create and release music! So, with that in mind, I created a free platform called membershipcollab.com that can help you all better connect with other students in this community for collaboration! In my opinion, collaboration is the #1 way to help increase your skills and grow as a musician, engineer or producer. The new membershipcollab.com platform is a tool all of you can use to connect and work on projects! 1. Create a free account on membershipcollab.com. 2. From there you can post projects and list the roles needed to complete the project. 3. People can apply to work with you or you can search for people/skills to find collaborators. 4. If you're in a paid membership you can always bring these projects to the mentors for extra help. 5. I will create a post at end of each month where we can highlight everyone who completed a project that month. 6. As a community we can give some support to these projects :) It should be a good time! Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck to everyone working on projects in April :) **Let me know in the comments if you encounter any bugs**

Although I don’t really know how I might help, it’s such a great idea for anyone wanting some sort of collaboration. I signed up anyway.
Powerful questions to study any plugin
When I started my exciting journey of reviewing 2 plugins per week, I found so far that all plugins can be divided into these categories: Inside cube vs. outside cube What does this plugin do to the elements in the mixing cube? Or what does it do to the whole cube? Transparent vs. Non-Transparent (color) What does this plugin do to the sound fixing it (transparent) or decorating it (colored)?
