I realize I am the coach in charge here. El jefe, the big Honcho, even "Big Papa" if you want a Ron Burgundy reference. But the truth is I am always learning and changing my opinion of fitness, especially when it comes to training people over 50. I am talking about sharing ideas, nutrition, workouts etc... you are actually doing. There are two types of posts I won't put up with. 1. People spamming or selling your stuff. I can smell it a mile away and it is an instant ban. 2. Anyone starting a post with " I have a friend who..." or "I have a buddy who..." The reason why is that these stories are never factual and involve hearsay. That won't be a ban but a gentle reminder not to do that. I want first hand stories and tips. While we are on the subject, this is the perfect place to ask questions about what your friends are doing or what people think about the latest fitness trend.
Big Wins Today
I signed up for a couple races today. I knew I was going to but sometimes I procrastinate. My core idea in running is to always have a race to prepare for. At least in theory. Sometimes I just wing it which is something I shouldn't do and definitely something you shouldn't do. I am just being honest here. Let me back up here since most of you don't know me that well. I live in Colorado and I love trail running. I especially like testing myself against the hard races. The long ones where you run up mountains for 3-6 hours. You would think someone who more closely resembles an ox or other beast of burden wouldn't be caught doing this but you would be wrong. I will go into in on another post one day. That Dam Run is a relatively easy race in March to start with. The pros are that it goes across the Cherry Creek Dam and is relatively flat as Colorado courses go. The cons are that it is on early March. Some years it is in the 60's and sunny, I have run it when it was minus 2 degrees and snowy and I have done it in 40 mph winds. You just don't know what you are going to get. And that is why you do it. I am going to do the half marathon ( 13.1`) distance. I also signed up for the Greenland 50k (31 miles and change) in May. It is in Greenland, matter of fact, Greenland Colorado. This is not a bad 50k to do if you want to do this sort of thing. I tries it 4 years ago and missed the cutoff. This year will be my revenge.

Do the thing you don't want to do 30 day challenge.
All right M Factor Insiders, here is your first test. If the idea of doing something you don't want to do is mildly repulsive, then you are at the right place. I have several mottos in life my favorite one being " Lift Heavy Pet Dogs" but that doesn't apply here. "Get comfortable being uncomfortable" is the one I am looking for. - All I am asking for is 30 days. Am I asking to much??? - I am going to do it with you. In fact I have already started. - I just started this community meaning it is small and you can get all the help you need. The bottom line is this. Don't Over think it. Don't worry about. Just click the link and do it. https://www.skool.com/m-factor-fitness-8004/classroom/abc4874a?referrer=grok.com You will get off to a great start in 2026 and you won't look back.

Tuesday's win
Let's be honest, it is easy to miss workouts around the holidays and I am no different. I spent the day training my people and working on the computer and before you know if it was dinner time and the day was winding down. We have a few last minute errands to run and we didn't get home until 7:30. Usually this is deadly for me. It is cold and dark but instead of relaxing with my wife I decided to see what I could get down in the gym. And it wasn't bad. Not great but passable. 5-6 sets of heavy back rows, kettlebell swings and Romanian Deadlifts for the hamstrings. 30-40 minutes no big deal but it is a big deal for me because I am the king of procrastination. So there it is.
