I signed up for a couple races today. I knew I was going to but sometimes I procrastinate. My core idea in running is to always have a race to prepare for. At least in theory. Sometimes I just wing it which is something I shouldn't do and definitely something you shouldn't do. I am just being honest here. Let me back up here since most of you don't know me that well. I live in Colorado and I love trail running. I especially like testing myself against the hard races. The long ones where you run up mountains for 3-6 hours. You would think someone who more closely resembles an ox or other beast of burden wouldn't be caught doing this but you would be wrong. I will go into in on another post one day. That Dam Run is a relatively easy race in March to start with. The pros are that it goes across the Cherry Creek Dam and is relatively flat as Colorado courses go. The cons are that it is on early March. Some years it is in the 60's and sunny, I have run it when it was minus 2 degrees and snowy and I have done it in 40 mph winds. You just don't know what you are going to get. And that is why you do it. I am going to do the half marathon ( 13.1`) distance. I also signed up for the Greenland 50k (31 miles and change) in May. It is in Greenland, matter of fact, Greenland Colorado. This is not a bad 50k to do if you want to do this sort of thing. I tries it 4 years ago and missed the cutoff. This year will be my revenge.
