Need some piston advice.
I posted this on a FB group but wanted to ask in here as well:
Looking for some advice from those with more experience on a refresh/rebuild.
I just picked up my LQ4 from the machine shop, and they had all the pistons removed from the block. They cleaned everything up, gapped the rings, honed the cylinders, but none of the pistons or rods were marked for cylinder location.
My question is — how big of a deal is this?
Can I reinstall the pistons in any cylinder as long as I keep the rod/piston orientation correct, or should they really go back into their original bores? I’ve heard mixed opinions on whether wear patterns matter enough to worry about.
For context, this is more of a refresh than a full performance build, and everything looked to be in good shape.
Appreciate any insight from those who’ve run into this before.
