Bottom end decisions
OK guys, I need some opinions about my 6.0L build. It was a core engine that I picked up cheap and ended up only being a collapsed lifter, everything else looks fine. I'm already going to be removing the rotating assembly to install new bearings, but at what point do I go with a better than stock rotating assembly? this is a Gen 4 engine, so I know the internals can handle a bit more in stock form, but at what point do I go ahead and start swapping parts out? its kind of turning into a "well, since I'm already here" type of thing, and I'm not sure that's warranted

Are you running boost and if so how much? If just NA or under 1000hp I wouldn’t dump more money than you have to in the bottom end. Use that money elsewhere.
The Rebuild
When I joined, I didn’t have swap on the horizon. My swap I competed in 2018 and have been refining it since. But I was happy with the results and was focusing on other areas like body work. Everything was running smoothly until it wasn’t. On Memorial Day 2026 I took the car out for a joy ride, and merging onto the highway shifting 2-3 the engine let all the magic smoke out. 🥺 The autopsy is still on going but it looks like piston #7 broke up on re-entry and spread wreckage throughout the engine before it locked up. So now I’m facing a rebuild and unraveling 8 years of work and jury rigs and starting over. I was using a 2009 L76 from a G8. My new donor is a 2004 LQ4 which I’m going to covert to a Gen4 spec engine reusing as much of the L76 parts that I can. First order of parts is coming in today or tomorrow with block off plates and conversion adapters. The new build is going to be designed with survival in mind. I’m downgrading the cam for less HP and more torque as it’s just a street car and power cruiser. Head and bottom end studs rather than bolts. Gen4 pistons with a bigger gap than I ran last time.

93 pump. It was SUPPOSED to be 10lbs. But that last pull felt great… so I’m suspicious of the waste gate now.

@Jared Hill I could have bought a better waste gate!
66 coming together
The 66 c10 is coming together nicely, still waiting on transmission and harness

@Chad Goemans Oh yeah. Been there. Those 8L90s are gigantic.
A Week We Won't Forget
Here's a quick update on everything that's unfolded over the past week. To put it simply: it's been one of those hard stretches that suck to go through and see all the time spent, burned away in a matter of minutes. It started last Monday when the transport company that hauls and sets up our show trailer picked it up for the run to Holley LS Fest Vegas. Tuesday evening, the call came in. Our driver was on the side of the highway, panicked with flames shooting out of the trailer. He tried to fight the fire to no avail. By the time the nearest town's fire department arrived, the entire contents of the trailer had been consumed. Getting that news over the phone, hundreds of miles away and completely helpless, was gut wrenching. The aftermath was no easier. Getting the salvage off the highway was a massive and expensive undertaking. The fire burned so intensely that the leaf springs separated from the frame and the wheel wells folded over. Every one of the six tires had to be replaced before the trailer could move again. All told it took seven hours just to get it rolling. We flew out to assess what was left. Being there in person made it real for us. Seeing so many of our memories, burned to crisp was tough. All that was left, is a handful of burnt engine and supercharger cores. To add insult to injury, insurance has denied the claim. We are not giving up on that fight, but the painful reality is we cannot touch the trailer contents until a later date. The problem is we need those engines to keep functioning as a company. We use them to mockup parts, test them and take photos with. Meanwhile, LS Fest Texas is less than three weeks out, and we refuse to miss it. So we bought some locked up engine cores that we currently are prepping so we have something to show in Texas. We are very fortunate that something actually bad didn't happen, such as someone getting hurt. This is a minor setback and will be back to full strength soon again. We launched a limited edition smoke gray flag shirt for anyone who wants to some cool new gear to help us out, since we lost almost all our shirt inventory in the fire. We will keep you updated as things develop. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to offer your support. You guys are the best and it means so much for your support!!

So sorry. Your spirit to over come is so obviously strong it’s inspiring. What’s the basis of the insurance companies denial? Other than, yanno being a typical insurance company.
What was I thinking
I did a thing over the weekend and not sure why but we shall see how this new project goes or I maybe just sell it before I do anything crazy 🤪

I vote for doing something crazy. No one tells stories of the time you were fiscally responsible, after all.

@Chad Goemans why not both?
