I’m not going to bemoan ICT Billet’s choices to move away from the Skool app. I understand the need to focus time and resources with a for profit business. But I am legit sad of the loss of this burgeoning group. Is there any interest in continuing with a new-Skool forum with the current fellowship? Obviously we won’t have the same support but I’ve said ‘be the change you want to see’ so… Anyone? Bueller??

Wanted to get something up before it ended but just didn’t have time to get this job done before tonight. I wanted to water cool my waste this time around so had ICT Billet send me this Earl’s stream line AN-3 conversion kit and looped them through the Tial waste gate and back into a relocated stream port on the return side of the water pump. (This actually also corrected a mistake I made years ago when I tapped it on the high pressure side, which may have not helped my poor departed #7 piston on the old engine) It’s been fun guys, me n Foxy signing off! Hello I’m a 20 year old car builder out of Washington state over the last 2 years I’ve build my 1965 Impala SS that’s got all new metal around the car since when I got it, it was a rotted out shell of a 65 Impala with no front slip or interior so I shaved firewall , did a custom dash with Dakota digitals to mate up with a 5.3L out of a 99 Silverado and a 4l80 out of a 98 1 ton express van. The tunnel had to be cut and raised up a couple of inches to fit the 4l80 and still lay frame and it’s not easy to see but the engine is on custom motor mounts and tucked as far back into the engine bay as possible. To complete the drive train it’s got a custom drive shaft back to a brand new 3.73 posi unit. I’ve built the car myself so any questions or tips I would love to hear to help spread a little knowledge and hopefully gain some too.

So tuner came out today and got the firebird road worthy and I must say… it’s pretty dang sweet!! However… the next issue we found was I am getting a lifter tick and oil pressure drop (8psi ish) at idle after the oil temp gets up there (can’t recall how temp he said when we were driving). pressure did come back to 30+ when accelerating. LS3 BTR stage 2 V.2 cam with the stuff deleted, and running Melling 10296 pump with black o ring. Didn’t touch the barbell, doesn’t seem to be foaming the oil, and sadly I’m not absolutely positive the oil sump is 1/4 or so from bottom of pan. I was running Valvoline 5w30 synthetic and the thought was that the oil gets too warm and the oil too thin to essentially lose viscosity? So some suggestions we discussed were: 1. change oil and look for flakes 2. Heavier oil ZR1 20/50 was brought up 3. Interwebs suggests Mobil 1 FS European Car Formula 0W-40 or Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 4. Oil cooler with thermostatic plate 5. Scrap the car And buy a Prius. I want to hear your thoughts on what you are thinking. I’m sure I’m missing details and will try to fill them in as this gets discussed but I really really really hope to not have to tear this motor out again if I can help it.
