Decision time - Injectors
Hey guys, Time to order some injectors. Rather than use the ones I had in my prior build, I think I "might" want to just get some new ones. But I have a few questions. My goal is to build a reliable, fun, street motor. It's in a third gen F-Body with a T56. 1. How accurate are most companies out of the box without verifying their stated flow rate? 2. Need help settling on a good brand if I go that route. 3. Are my current injectors (Bosch 280150558) worth reusing after a sonic cleaning and flow-match? Current combo used green top (casting 280150558, rated at 42# - have seen 43.5# on some sites). My build is N/A and anticipated to stay that way for awhile. I will be verifying my prior tune with HP Tuners. Here's my combo: Block - 6.0 iron, bored .030 over (4.030”) Crank shaft- Stock, 3.622” stroke, ground .010” Main bearings - King MB5293MC .010 (Standard bi-metal aluminum silicon with anti-friction coating) Pistons - Mahle PowerPak 4032 forged 4.030" with .945" wrist pins Connecting rods - K1 Technology 012AE29610 forged 4340 H-beam (6.098” with .945” wrist pin) Connecting rod bearings - King CR807SI .010 Oil pump - Melling 10295 with mid-level spring Oil pump barbell - Improved Racing (reusing, with inspection ) Oil pan - Stock 98-02 LS (reusing, with inspection Oil pan baffle - Improved Racing (reusing, with inspection ) Camshaft bearings - King CS5171HPT Camshaft - BTR LS3 Stage 3 v2 (reusing, with inspection) Timing chain - Cloyes Hex-a-Just (reusing, with inspection) Timing chain damper - Trickflow Specialties (reusing, with inspection) Lifter buckets - new GM (reusing, with inspection) Lifters - LS7 (reusing, with inspection) Heads - stock 243 castings Valvesprings - BTR upgraded (reusing, with inspection) Head gaskets - GM 12610046 (4.100" - .051" compressed thickness) Head bolts - reusing ARP (torqued 1 time, reusing with inspection) Pushrods - 7.400" x .080" (reusing, with inspection) Rocker arms - (reusing stock rockers, with inspection)
Anyone see any issues with this combo?
Installed in a third gen Camaro. T56, street car. Hoping for 450 wheel but maybe a bit on the hopeful side for that. My Mahle compression ratio calculator specs out around 10:37:1 with a .051 gasket on a 64cc with 0 deck. A 0.030" skim off the heads puts it at 10.6:1 which is pretty pump gas friendly with that cam and 91 here in California. I definitely plan to verify that deck height before bolting it all together, though. Thoughts? Leaning toward Michigan Motorsports or King SI bearings. Unsure on that as they're in the same price point. Block: 6.0, bored .030 (4.030") Crank: Stock, ground .010" and polished Rods: K1 Technologies forged 6.098" H-beam with .945 wrist pins Pistons: Mahle PowerPak forged 4032 with .945 wrist pin Cam: BTR LS3 Stage 3 V2 Heads: 243 castings with upgraded BTR springs Rocker arms: Stock with BTR trunnion upgrade Oil pump: Melling 10295 with mid-level spring Pushrods: BTR .080 wall 7.400" Lifters: stock LS7 with new buckets Timing chain: Cloyes Hex-a-Just Timing chain damper: Trickflow Specialties Head gasket: 4.100" LS9 GM (.051" compressed) Valve covers: Holley tall (to accommodate the trunnion upgrade) Intake: FAST 92mm Throttle body: Motion Racework's 92mm Injectors: 42mm Catch can: Mighty Mouse Steam line: ICT 4-port kit Oil pan: Stock LS with Improved Racing baffle Oil barbell: Improved Racing Radiator: Stock 4th gen with 4th gen dual fans

@Eric Harmer 6.0. My combo is in the post. Maybe too much info lol I have a little bit of trauma after my ATK fiasco and want to get it right. I think I am going to run King Bearings
Looking for some advice
I have a third gen Camaro. The build was 6.0 LQ9 ATK short block with 243 heads and BTR LS3 cam, Fast 92, etc. Motor broke pistons 5 and 7 after about 300 miles. Both pistons had broken lands between top and bottom compression rings. ATK blames detonation. Piston manufacturer estimates ring gap and butting ends. Shop said pig rich (it was dyno tuned). Going to a local rebuild shop. Should I: - rebuild and enjoy it with a couple new parts I purchased: Motion Raceworks throttle body, ICT Billet 4 port steam kit, and Mighty Mouse catch can. Purchase new hypereutectic pistons, polish the crank, balance it. - Stroke it to 408
Looking for some advice

@Taiton Cheever Tell me more. I am thinking of just upgraded to a forged piston with some quality rings (Hastings). The shop stated the block looks good with only minor scuffing. Should be able to get away with a tank, hone, and reassemble. Luckily, I shut the motor down before things got really bad. The motor only had about 300 miles on it total. I have read a bunch of articles either way between a midmax-effort 6.0 vs a 408 stroker and there are pro's and con's of each. My car has a T56 with 295s in the back and it's already pretty loose off the line. Probably would go with a Mahle or some other good brand piston. Nothing wrong with the UEM hypereutectics but forged isn't much more and I'd rather have a bit of margin for error here in California since the gas is so shitty. Thoughts? As for bearings, most likely run something from King or Sealed Power. The plan is to run all new bearings (cam, main, and rod). Pretty much start fresh with a polish of the crank and up from there. Rods are good but I think I would probably run ARP bolts since they'll be off anyway.

@Jared Hill Honestly, a good question. I'm not 100% sure. I have 295s and it's pretty loose in the back already. If anything, I'd like to drop the torque a bit. Even with the 3.27 posi it has traction issues. I mean, it's fun. I've driven it so little over the past 29 years, I just want a reliable, pump-gas friendly street car that's a bit of a banger but still easy to drive. It's also a T56 swapped car now. I have 243 heads and a Fast92 on it so the top end can handle either combo, I'd think?
LS Fest West
We’ll be at LS Fest Vegas next weekend and would love to meet our Skool members in person. Alan will be there and is looking forward to connecting and seeing what you’ve been working on. If you’ll be there, comment what you’re bringing and where we can find you!

@Kegan Leep I was able to make it work. Just going to drive up in my (don't shoot me) Tesla. LoL. I'll stop in at the booth and say hi. The plan for getting it going? First, I need to send my fuel injectors to South Bay and see if it was a hung injector. It looks like those cylinders got washed. Head gasket looked good. What was super weird about this whole thing is I ran 5w30 synthetic (Mobil1) too soon and had NO blowby until I did the oil change. Within 10 miles it was chugging. Regardless, going to pull the pistons and see what actually happened. Most likely just rebuild it back stock (LQ9 bottom end with 243 heads), even though the stroker devil keeps whispering in my ear.

@Kegan Leep Man, would have loved that! Sorry to hear about the fire. Everything can be replaced but you guys can't. That really sucks! I placed a shirt order right away.
LS fuel system
What is everyone running for fuel system and regulators for your LS projects?

I have a plastic 4th gen gas tank in my 3rd gen. Using the original bucket with an upgraded fuel pump. I am running -6 AN down to a y-block. One Y has a filter and goes up to the engine and the other goes back to the tank. If I remember, it's a Walbro 255. The 4th gen bucket has a regulator on it already, and is sufficient for a daily car.
