Today, I had my second meeting with a potential client, and I want to share what happened.
I started the meeting by greeting him and asking, “What is the biggest problem you are currently facing before I walk you through the strategies?”
He replied, “We don't have any problems. We are just starting out.”
After hearing this, I got confused because I had prepared an entire document with strategies, numbers, and everything I wanted to say. I didn't know how to continue, so I left the call.
Then I thought I could still talk to him about his ad creatives, so I rejoined the call. He asked what happened, and I told him the call had dropped.
This time, I started with confidence and said, “I'm here to show you a strategy you are not currently testing that could help improve your CPA.”
I suggested adding a Subscribe & Save option, but he said he personally doesn't like Subscribe & Save.
Then I suggested adding an email popup to his website to collect visitors' emails. He replied that they were already doing this through their loyalty program.
I told him, “You are thinking from your personal perspective, but I'm thinking like a marketer. It's not about what you personally like or dislike. It's about testing strategies that can help your business grow.”
Then I walked him through the strategy using my CPA calculator to show him how it could help his business.
I asked him about his current Facebook CPA, but he said that information was confidential. Then I asked about his processing costs, and he said those were confidential too.
I said, “No problem. Let me assume some numbers and show you how this strategy could work.”
I used estimated numbers in my calculator and explained the potential results and how the strategy could help improve his CPA.
And then he said these are assumed numbers then i say yes if you give me your real numbers i can tell you what exactly this do for your business.
After that, he said, “I have your email. If I need anything in the future, I will contact you.”
He End the Call in like 5 sec
.
The most confusing part for me is this:
In my cold email, I clearly mentioned the concepts and explained how they could help lower his CPA. He read that email then i send him the concepts , then i send him the him full version of one concept and then he booked a call .
But when I asked him about his biggest problem, he said they didn't have any problems because they were just starting out.
If he didn't need help with anything, why did he book the meeting in the first place?
I had prepared everything, including the strategies, the CPA calculator, and the complete meeting script.
But when he gave me an unexpected answer, I didn't know how to handle the conversation.
I want to understand what I did wrong in this meeting, how I should have handled his responses, and what I should do differently in my next meeting , and why people do this if they don't need anything why they book the call for fun.
