Deliverability versus confidence building
I’m getting ready to launch cold email campaigns across 24 highly segmented data feeds, targeting CIOs and C-suite executives at $1B+ enterprise companies for B2B IT consulting. Because we’re going after high-level enterprise decision-makers, authority and brand image are extremely important. I recently had a custom banner image created (attached below) to build immediate confidence and trust right when the email opens. Years ago, when our business was doing $4M/year, we ran emails through ConstantContact with visual banners and saw great success. However, standard cold email consensus today is: "Never include images in your first email—it will tank deliverability straight to spam." Here is our current setup: Accounts are pre-warmed (purchased directly through Instantly). Extremely low/sparing sending volume per inbox. Highly optimized spintax and copy to avoid traditional spam triggers. Deeply segmented firmographic data. At the same time, I regularly receive newsletter-style outbound emails in my primary inbox that feature visual header banners. I’d love feedback from anyone running B2B enterprise outreach: 1. Have you tested using a header banner or image in Email #1 when targeting enterprise C-suite? 2. Did you notice a measurable drop in deliverability (especially against enterprise filters like Proofpoint, Mimecast, or Microsoft Defender)? 3. If you use visuals, do you keep Email #1 strictly text-only and introduce graphics in follow-up steps, or do you use them from day one? Would appreciate hearing real test data or experiences from the group!

@Jay Feldman Jay, I appreciate that and value your feedback immensely.

@Hanjala Islam I appreciate that Hanjala, i know you’re right on. I often fall in love with the message and branding and fail to give enough attention to testing. I know this sounds like I’m looking to take the easy way out, but I’m actually hoping to maybe hire an operator to execute and leave myself to messaging and branding. Until I find somebody who can execute the campaigns on instantly and heyreach, I’m gonna focus on building out all the messaging for 24 campaigns
Databar.ai? (Clay.com alternative)
Has anyone used it? Is it a credible substitute for Clay? Any glaring limitations that you've noticed? thanks in advance

I have not tried Databar.ai. I have spent 20 hours learning Clay.com and feel I probably have another 30 hours to be fully up to speed. But.... I also just started to learn about BitScale and will ask Jay's team about it on Monday but it seems to fix allot of clay issues like cost and having a kind of white glove onboarding. I'm meeting again with BitScale on Monday too to dive deaper. There is a good clay vs. bitscale webpage but I am not sure if I am allowed by this community's rules to post it so I won't. I'm new to the community. Thanks.

@Muhammad Ahmad Oh! Bitscale! Hadn’t heard that word in a while. Or another way of saying it is 10 months and roughly $20,000 later….me and Clay are married. About a year ago, I approached that scale and they were gonna write all of my workbooks on their platform for free as long as I sign some nominal monthly agreement, which is for would’ve been pennies on the dollar what I’ve spent to get what I need implemented in Clay. I entertained using Jay’s team instead of this other offshore team and the other team ended up costing me $10,000 a potential legal fight that I narrowly avoided early and a lot of headache. So many predators out there. Today I got five work books in clay developing or delivering 27 different high segmented data streams into instantly. The thing I would say about this scale is that I don’t know if I would’ve gotten my unique business strategy implemented by any other way than working one-on-one with a clay developer daily At the end of the day, I leverage this terrible team and then had to finish their work using two other offshore teams through Upwork All that said and I still don’t have any emails going out the front door! But I am right at the finish line and tomorrow I finally have everything in place to use Claude to help craft the bits of final touches on these email campaigns I don’t know if this whole thing will ever actually turn a profit, but it is exactly what I envisioned years ago so at least I’ve achieved my dream now we’ll see if I can actually connect with CIO’s and billion dollar companies using it
🚨 A client pulled 16% reply rates last month
Not through personalization. Not enrichment. Not some clever AI angle. They just emailed people who don't get cold emails. Here's the part nobody says out loud. Apollo, ZoomInfo, all of them scrape the same contacts off LinkedIn. Then every single one of us runs the same filters on top. Under 100 employees. Decision makers. Industries you think have money. I'm on that list. I get around 100 cold emails a day and I've got a filter that dumps every one of them into a folder. There is no cold email on this earth you could write me that gets a 10% reply rate. None. A restaurant owner who sees one cold email a day? Completely different conversation. New video is up and it's the full breakdown: 📍 Why swapping Apollo for Google Maps data alone takes you from 1% to 3-4% 👤 Owner emails vs role based emails, and when info@ is genuinely fine 🎥 52,000 YouTubers with a real email attached, filterable by niche 📱 Instagram bio scraping (1.5 million profiles with fitness, gym or health in the bio) 🎁 The easy yes offer behind the 16%: a welcome box, all they do is say yes Watch it here 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja1WknkOX-I Copy and offer are still the most important things by a mile. Fix those first. Then stop sending them to people who are already drowning in cold emails. First month on Consulti is free right now and that link expires in a few days. It's in the description.

Can someone summarize the key points from the video? Sorry, I’m lazy

@Jordan Wiseman thanks for reminding me. Just this morning I used Google or rather Gemini to do just that and I was surprised when I asked Gemini to display the contents in a form of a Google Docs and it went out and created the Google doc and it was immediately accessible through Google Docs. I must have connected Gemini with Google Docs. This whole AI thing is making research incredibly fast
🎥 Webinar Replay is up (72 hours only)
I wasn't going to post a replay for this one. But.. too many people asked, so here it is. Up for 72 hours and then it's gone. 577 people joined the webinar at some point, and we went an hour over because the questions kept coming. 👉 Watch the replay here Questions in the comments and my team and I get to them.

@Jay Feldman Sure, I’ll bite. The piece that I found most valuable was actually consulti app. The AI writer, though it doesn’t do everything I need it had the bones that I could backward engineer and ensure my Claude CMS I’m building uses those best practices you’ve baked into your application I think what’s foundational about your support in your team and your products are that they generally add a lot of value and our helping in an area that lacks strong service providers as yourselves I remember maybe four years ago when we chatted on the phone and we had both finished reading some similar books on marketing specifically by that guy who wears the nose thing and talks about the grand slam offer I’m glad you and your team are experiencing such great success I’m moving the ball forward.. Just not an easy not to crack these enterprise B2B Nish ICP’s.

@Jay Feldman Thanks Jay. While, I was cuddling this together. I saw a potential partner offer the same service from Hong Kong and his service offering gave me a lot of clues how to be very specific within this niche.
🚨 Most important cold email video I'll make this year
I was in Montenegro at an AI conference when the reports started coming in. On vacation. Which is exactly when this stuff always happens 🤦‍♂️ Clients telling me replies had gone soft. Not off a cliff, nothing dramatic. Just quietly worse. So I sat in a hotel room with my laptop and Claude Code instead of doing any of the things you go to Montenegro to do, and started running tests. Here's the part that made me stop caring about the vacation. We found domains sitting on a blacklist before they had sent a single email. Not before their first cold email. Before they ever entered a warmup pool. Zero sends. Zero complaints. Already burnt. You cannot burn a domain that has never sent anything. So it wasn't the copy. It wasn't the warmup. It wasn't the volume. We tested all of it and none of it moved. Then we found the cause, and I did not enjoy it. It's a setup I've been telling you to use for years. In this community, in my paid programs, everywhere. Every serious infra provider in the space did the same thing, because it was the gold standard. It isn't anymore. It's now one of the easiest ways to get spotted as a cold emailer, and there's a blacklist quietly picking people off because of it. We ran a clean test that proved it in under an hour. Then we built two fixes and deployed them for all new orders before making this public. Both fixes are in the video, along with how to check if you're already on the list and what to do if you are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYoh_2j6VMg Watch it before your next send. If you've bought domains in the last few months, you're the one this happened to.

@Jay Feldman I’m starting to wonder if I should just send all my emails out under my primary domain. Now that I’ve tightened my ICP down so tight I think I might be fine sending less than 500 a day. Maybe I should just send them as myself? Maybe I should just revert back to ConstantContact (CC)?
