Bid/Ask Sizes Are Changing And What it Means For You!

Starting November 4th 2025, impacted equities will start reporting bid/ask sizes in actual share count instead of “round lot” sizes. This is part of SEC’s upcoming changes proposed to improve market quality and enhance transparency. What is impacted? This change ONLY applies to listed equities on following the exchanges: NYSE, NASDAQ, NYSEAM, ARCA and BATS. This change DOES NOT impact equities listed on Canadian exchanges or other markets like OTC and PINX. How Does It Impact You? When you view a quote, you will see the Bid/Ask price with a "size" next to it. This size will indicate share count instead of round lot sizes for impacted equities mentioned above. Currently: The size is shown in board lots. Example: A size of 10 for MSFT actually means 1,000 shares are available Starting November 4th 2025: The size will be the actual number of shares. Example: You will now see a size of 1000 for MSFT, which means 1,000 shares
