As I mentioned yesterday, I’ll be at the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners meeting today at 9:00 a.m. supporting my neighbor, Jason Schott, as he makes his case for a variance on his property. Some of you saw his beautiful play area and finished basement apartment—Jason is trying to responsibly rent out an ADU, just like I went through with Monument Glamping last year.
Today isn’t just about Jason. It’s about standing up for the rights of landowners everywhere to responsibly unlock the value of their property. By supporting Jason publicly, I’m standing up for all of us who want to make our land work for us while following the spirit of the Master Plan.
You can watch the meeting live here: El Paso County BOCC Live Video. I’d love for you to see this in action and think about the bigger picture: How can we, as a community of landowners, support each other in responsibly creating value on our properties? What would it look like if more neighbors were able to do the same as Jason?
