So a bit of a divergence from our normal GMing questions, but I think this actually is helpful. By thinking about what we wanted to play, we can be better GMs.
So back in Highschool I wanted to play a certain build, but it required a god to have a specific favored weapon to bring the build online at a low enough level. This lead me to create a whole new god of creatures are born of parents of different lineages. Their monasteries also act as place kids can grow up, considering a human mother may not be around long enough to see their half human, half longer lived race grow up, not that this was restricted to human lineage characters. I had this whole idea of being a half dragon paladin who is a champion of those like him, torn to live between two worlds.
