In looking at the growing use of AI search (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) and it being used to bring business in the door I’m noticing the heavy weight towards “person of authority” over “company of solutions”. In general on most platforms a personal post will get more engagement than a company post. So if I post about a Crate/barrier bag job on my personal linked in post feed, it generally will always get more engagement (likes and comments) than if I posted the same post on the Gateway company profile page. Meaning, people like to engage with other people over interacting with a company even when the subject and narrative are the same. This is certainly playing out over in AI search. My personal website has gotten much more traffic in regards to what my company (3PL) does in AI search. Even when my posts are more about the accomplishments of the company over what I’ve done. In other words it’s very likely I didn’t crate and barrier bag the pictures I post. I have employees that do that, I did however post the language and important subject matter keywords about the process. The AI models however are choosing content from “authority” over content of “solutions” If the subject is Crating it seams most logical for the search engine to direct the person to the Gateway Crate and Freight website. Instead what I’m finding is that the AI search engine is more often than not directing them to the PapaFreight website (which of course has a link to the Gateway company websites) But the point is an Authority on a Subject matter has become more relevant to search than a Company that performs the subject matter. My PapaFreight dotcom website is getting more traffic recently than our company websites like GatewayCrateandFreight dotcom In AI search. Meaning Even as AI has become viewed as more dehumanizing, the human has become more important! AI search understands this. The expanded context in LLMs has become to understand that people want to do business with other people!
