2025-12-05: Simplicity facilitates consistency
There was a time when I tried to implement elaborate and complex time-management systems. I spent hours setting up detailed structures of projects, lists, and tags. I watched countless YouTube reviews searching for the “perfect” productivity app. I read articles and manuals where smart people explained how to build some super-advanced time-management system.
But somehow, I couldn’t stay consistent. I always dropped these systems halfway through. I kept them up for a few days or maybe a few weeks, and then I simply forgot to enter my tasks into that “perfect” system.
In the end, I’m now happy with a much simpler approach. I have three priorities for the month, the week, and the day. These priorities are displayed as three sticky notes on my smartphone. This way, I can always see how my goals for today align with my goals for the week and month.
I also chose one app for task tracking. My only requirement was that it supported both Android and a web version. I use a single project folder called "Inbox". That’s where I put all incoming tasks. From time to time, I scan this folder to pick tasks for today or the next few days. I write those tasks on a sheet of paper so they’re always in front of me. Or I create a reminder on my phone.
And that’s it. Thanks to its simplicity, I’m able to stick to this system consistently. It’s enough for my needs. I don’t use fancy projects or tags anymore. This basic setup works and helps me get things done. That’s what matters.
In my case, simplicity won 🙃
