What is Conditioning
What does "conditioning" or "being in shape" mean?
Conditioning is a measure of how well an athlete is able to meet the energy production demands of their sport.
Conditioning isn't a one-size-fits-all. Just because a football player can't run up and down the basketball court without being winded doesn't mean he isn't conditioned. He's conditioned for football.
It's important for us as coaches and trainers to understand this. It can eliminate excess fatigue, and we can maximize output in a detailed way while allowing adequate time for recovery.
I'm curious about conditioning techniques/methods you guys may use with your athletes or teams.
