If you're shooting straight, that's what you should pay attention to. That is the hard part. Shoot it straight and trust that, by doing a lot of repetition, it will correct itself

I would have someone stay about 4 feet away and hold a broom order what you can hold about 15 inches higher that there reach. Once you have the held go to your 4 foot spot and have them shoot it Well get them to shoot around a 42 to 47 degree entry angle. I have Utility Pattern approved on that I have whole piece of equipment that got approved at the Pattern office in Washington.

Play on a top eybl aau team but get limited minutes OR … play on a lower level circuit but start and play the whole game. It’s Junior year going into senior year of HS

EYBL to be chosen to be put on a Team it is good. But to get scholarships at any level of college is good doesn't have to be a big school. Find a high-level team and go play in some big events. Plus, in High school, if you're that kind of player, you will be recognized anyway. The portal is the first recruiting tool today, not AAU. So, if you're not good enough and that is your goal, you're better off training and working out over the weekends. Because AAU isn't how you improve training. If playing all the time is the way, why do the NBA players have shooting coaches and Nutritionist strength training in the off-season? I think they have the best people around, so don't reinvent the wheel, just follow those who know the most.

A parent is watching you work with a player and they are commenting / making faces after EVERY rep. They make a negative face/comment after a miss and a positive reaction after a make. The player looks at them each rep...

I would wait until the workout is finished, then have a private meeting with parents (without the player). I really like watching him trying things outside his comfort zone. The best way to him improve is to encourage playing faster and attempting unfamiliar skills-that's growth happens, and it will transfer to games must more quickly. So, stay positive on every attempt, even when the outcome isn't what we want. trust the process. If you this is to stressful, just drop him off and we'll handle it. Once we start seeing improvement, I let you know to stop and watch. I don't do training so maybe different not sure I just am a head coach in high school this our philosophy.
Consequences for lack of effort.
I have a few philosophies on this but wanted to bring it to the community to start the conversation. What are your thoughts on consequences for not going hard in workouts? If you make them run, do the kids lose motivation, lose confidence or does it impact the training environment? OR Do you put limitations and constraints in drills to force them to go hard? (For example: point system, competition, etc) At what point is it the kid doesn't want it or it's the coaches job to curate the environment for work ethic? I have had many conversations with my internal team and other coaches in other areas. Curious to know what the community thinks.
