Reading & Answering Comments?

So I’m somewhat swamped with comments on a couple of my videos. What seems to be confusing is that I get notified in email about a comment, I can see it show up also as a notification for my channel. I will then go in post a comment to the comment. Last 24 hours I’ve had over 100 comments and discovered that I missed a few along the way. So I went back to try to hunt them down and discovered that when I looked at the comment section of a video they’re not necessarily in any particular order.Otherwise, I see some really old comments mixed in with some really new comments.

So what am I missing? I would think that the comments would be ordered from newest to oldest. Do you view your comments through YouTube studio, directly in a video, or some other way?
